Just got my estimate back for my upcoming surgery next month($762,098.66) and adding that up with the two I had last month and my stroke back in Nov, my insurance paid out $1.5mil. The figure is low because I think the last two surgeries haven't finished being tallied up fully yet so it's more like $1.5 - $2 mil. The reason why sucks but at least someone is sticking it them. I will obviously never pay that much in insurance payments. Out of pocket for everything I was capped at $23k which obviously still sucks but only having to pay $23k for $2mil worth of work isn't horrible.

Best of luck. I hope you aren't in one of those constant circular struggles where just one more procedure and then you'll be passable.

I had almost $800k in medical last year. Paid $6,500 out of pocket. But I have accident insurance so they paid me $6,400. So $100 total for me

Worked out well for me but the overall cost is still pretty bonkers

Western medicine is the biggest racket in the history of the world.
The idea that whatever those humans did to you was equal to fashioning a 2025 Lamborghini is laughable.

So my life isn't worth a 2025 Lamborghini? Merry Christmas to you too.

But seriously, I get what you're saying but the opposite side of the same coin, if the doctor weren't paid like that would you be getting the best of the best? It's the money imo that attracts a good portion of them and because of that people fly from all over the world because of how excellent they are. My surgeon is in his early 50's if not late 40's and is some sort of super genius with a knife. He's pretty much the best cutter at one of the top hospitals if not best in the world. He performs hundreds of these surgeries a year and because of that he can proudly tell people the risk of death is less than 2%. I would rather be in this situation where my risk is almost nothing because of this racket rather than another system where my risk is something like 10%.

It's only money and I can't take it with me when I die. I would rather have the lower risk and less money then a larger risk of not living to see my next birthday. Money can't buy time.
