So... they did the same as Jaguar? Or Jaguar did the same as them?

Either way, it could be the death knell for both of them.
Oh God, no.

Mopar definitely made some dumb decisions, but they at least tried. They thought they could create a new, modern, EV version of what made people love the Charger & Challenger in the first place. Like the 6-cylinder is gonna be called the "six pak", which is nomenclature pulled from the '60s when you could get big blocks with three 2bbl carbs. They figured completely wrong, but you can at least see the attempted logic.

Jag, on the other hand, completely shitcanned their entire history & heritage, going away from quite literally anything and everything that anyone would ever associate with them in the first place.

Mopar thought they could create like a futuristic version of their old products.

Jag wants you to forget about everything they ever made in the first place.

Fuck those idiots at Jag. Good grief.

If you've seen everything Jag did and think all they did was "change their logo", then I'm not sure what to tell you.

Meh, just seems like a Euro trash rebrand.
They announced that Jaguar will be 100% EVs from now on, changed the company logo from this:

...to this weird, pink one with lower case and capitals:

...and also admitted that 85% of current customers would be priced out of buying the new cars even if they liked them.

Basically 90+ years of heritage was flushed down the shitter.

So they changed their logo, which happens to be on a pink background on an advertisement, everything else is the same, and that's flushing their heritage down the toilet?

It's hilarious that people are more bent out of shape over some nouveau branding attempt than they were foreigners buying the company.

Jag themselves have said they're going after urban, "design-minded" audience who is "cash-rich & time poor". This is new whereas before, they tended to go after affluent, dignified, classy prospects of status.

They've also said their new style is "exuberant modernism", where classic Jag has always had at least some roots in classic styling, relying on shapely design, distinctive exhaust sounds (be it the Mk2, XKE, F-Type, etc), understated colors, etc. (Imagine a Jag lineup that goes completely away from British racing green.)

They were already positioned as a luxury brand, but they're doubling the price...which as pointed out above, they've said they don't care if it prices their current & long-time fanbase out of the market. They plainly don't want their old customers.

They're going all EV with no gas-power engines, when a huge part of Jag's history has been their powerplants - especially the inline 6, the aforementioned distinctive exhaust notes you didn't get from any other brand, etc.

Their new slogan is "copy nothing", which means they want to reinvent everything, to the point that when they started this whole rebrand, they literally deleted their entire social media history on every platform so they could start new as if they had no past history.

There's more than that, but yeah...aside from the logo, "everything else is the same".

lol ok
