I'm in the trucking industry. Thanks to Commifornia. We have d.e f. systems on all diesel engines. Those things are absolute crap. Added cost on new trucks and cost of fueling up.
One of my dispatchers has a 2013 or 14 Duramax that needed the DPF system replaced. Not only was is several thousand dollars but it took GM almost 2mo to get the 5 computers that control the system to "talk" to each other again. His truck was down for nearly a year just having that system replaced. It's been 2yrs now since that was done & the EGR valve has failed again. Just the damn EGR valve was >$700 & he's doing the labor himself wtf!!!

6.4, no mods, 96000
As I edited above. Been pickup shopping. Was looking at older 7.3 PSD's but I don't commute far enough for a diesel. Decided to look for a 6.2 gasser F150 but don't want the short 5.5' box on nearly all of the Limited or Platinum models I see that engine in. Finding a 6.5' bed in an F150 with teh 6.2 is a damn chore

Yeah, I'm mainly a Ford guy (although I daily a GMC) but only want the 6.2 for a gasser. If need be I'll go all the way back to 00-03 for an old 5.4 2V but I'm not there just yet. Son just got his permit so I've still got about 6mo to find something (he's getting my current pickup)

Those old Chevys with the vortex v6 were pretty solid. I mean, the paint will fall off cause it's a Chevy, but the motor is good.
Elderly neighbor just sold a 2wd 04(ish) Chevy with the 5.3. Under 100k mi on it & one owner. $8k. It's too bad I require a 4wd & crew cab or it would have been mine.

Hell, at this point I might even settle for a 4.7 V8 4Runner, timing belt and all lol
