Haven't there been problems with wait times for years? That's always been one of the arguements against going to a system like you have. What's the solutions to this problem? More taxes, maybe a co-pay when you go to Dr. Even if you go tthrough obamacare to get insurance there are still co pays when you go for treatment. The amounts you have to pay are based o which monthly plan you choose.

I don't think there is anything wrong with waiting lists. If you don't want to wait you can go private. Waiting lists just need to be managed properly, and the NHS receive the proper funding.

Almost all of primary care is better in majority single payer systems and specialist care much limited and longer wait.
I totally agree with you but that would never work here. The worst part about the way things have become here are people that actually pay for their insurance can't still can't afford to go for things like MRI because insurance premiums have went up so much employers are choosing plans with higher co pays and deductibles. Something has to give

Yeah it's actually a microcosm of the issue.
You can have an initial pcp visit, see ortho, and get a knee replacement all within 2 weeks with the right insurance.
Issue is, it costs about 10 times as much to have that done versus waiting 3-6 months.
Your knee has been fucked for decades. You have been slowly failing non surgical measures for years.
But now you're gonna bitch that you have to wait a few months to keep the systemic costs down?
The pyramid of doctors is upside down for family medicine versus specialists.
I never had to have a major surgery so I had no clue the price differential was so much. I couldn't afford my deductible so in would have to be in some crazy pain. Preventive medicine isn't something I worry about due to that.
