Do you guys want me to ruin your indian culinary experience?

Fuck it I will anyway

Outside of the UK you cant get a decent curry in the West, nearly all the chefs are male afghan refugees or Pakistani men who decided driving cabs wasnt for them. Very few indian restaurants have proper indian chefs and the food is also all Northern Indian and as a person of mixed indian heritage let me tell you most North Indians freely admit their food is shit compared to Southern food which is more spicy, uses fresher ingredients nd more variety.

It sucks that all the south Indians in the West are too busy writing really bad code and or too wealthy to bother with opening restaurants.

Other option is to make southern indian food yourself, dont be scared homies its not rocket science just looks that way haha

Love me some Tika tho

This isnt true bro. Ive posted pics of authentic Indian food many times here. If my Punjabi neighbors had their way I would eat 4 meals a day in the garage with them. I didnt really know male Indians cook. Around here the women do it. There is a alot of Sikh's around here. I will never go hungry, that is for sure.

I was fine lol. Im a professional. We do have good authentic Indian food around here as well. One of the best places ive been to for Indian food was a Himalayan restaurant called the Taste of India & Nepal in Ukiah Ca. It was different from the food I get around my home, but very similar, but different. The owners were a husband and wife that were both from Nepal. Great place.

What they do in indian restaurants is they have a number of sauces that they use to replicate the original dish, they start off with a base sauce which everything (meat) is cooked in then they add a different combination of sauces to replicate whatever dish youre after.

I dont know about Nepali food but if its Indian and a meat dish and isnt cooked and served on the bone its not authentic, again not sure about Nepali

Now days with many Indians living in the west they will sneak in an authentic dish for the Indian diners, look for "Jungli Murgi" on the menu, Jungli means from the jungle and muhrgi means chicken. Even the name they use isnt authentic, jungli muhrgi actually denotes to chicken that is raised wild or free range killed and cooked on the same day as opposed to store bought whole chicken chopped up, cooked and served "on the bone" which is what the restaurants serve.

Thats the test, lamb, beef, pork or chicken curries must be cooked on the bone otherwise its McCurry.

Not sure where youre at but we have family in Sacramento and they are always complaining about the lack of proper curry there, might be different in other parts of the US.

Your Punjabi neighbors, they give you much yogurt? those fuckers eat so much dairy...

@Sweat Tea what do you know about poppy tea? Neighbor brought it over again. Its gonna be a long night.
Never even heard of it, I should probably point out that Im from the Fiji Islands (Now living in Australia) and the curries there are heavily influenced by South Indian cooking due to similar climates and perceived superiority.

Where abouts do you live?

I see. My tax man is a Fiji Born Indian, or FBI as they refer to themselves. I work with many. Iam aware of the culture differences. I have enjoyed different curries in many countries. I live in In California, a few miles from the town of Delhi. The poppy tea is home brewed by my homie. Poppy as in the poppy flower. The Poppy flower seems to be a regular part of many of my friends diets.

I said OUTSIDE OF THE UK haha well okay lets extend that to the arsehole of Ireland

Scots/Poms/Irishmen all complain about the curry here in Aus, some of my mates from the UK would turn up at my mum and dads place around dinner unannounced just to get a proper curry (which is no issue) but you guys are crazy for the stuff I think curry is now England's national dish yeah? I know Indians who get pissed off at that until I point out that if we took everything the UK has invented back off them theyd be back in the stone age haha

Wow we probably know some of the same people if you allow for a few degrees of separation. Ask your tax man for goat curry next tax season its the bomb or ask for some Fijian food, that shit will put some muscle on ya Ill PM you some names later to see if you know any, dont want to post them here and blow your anonymity
