Winner of three of four UFC bouts, and a pair of post-fight bonuses, Kevin Souza is no longer a UFC fighter.

Souza, who had a 10-fight winning streak snapped by Chas Skelly in November, was listed among eight fighters recently cut from the promotion. Souza, who confirmed his cut to MMAFighting.com on Tuesday, revealed on Wednesday that his four-fight contract expired in November, and the promotion showed no interest in signing a new deal.

"Every fighter receives an e-mail from USADA to notify their whereabouts, if you’re making a trip or things like that," Souza told MMAFighting.com, "and I got an e-mail saying I didn’t need to notify them anymore because I wasn’t listed as a UFC fighter. That’s how I found out."

Souza didn’t gamble like Alistair Overeem, Ben Henderson and Aljamain Sterling, who recently fought the last fights of their contracts before negotiating a new deal. According to the Brazilian, the UFC never offered an extension after he won his first three bouts.

"It was weird because I’ve seen many fighters with the same contract I had, a four-fight deal, signing new deals after a win and a loss, or after three fights, and I was coming off three wins, two bonuses, and they didn’t want to sign a new deal with me," he said. "I thought it was weird. And they still didn’t tell me why they aren’t interested."

Souza is technically a free agent, and the UFC can still offer him a new deal. That’s now how the Brazilian sees his current status.

"They said I’m not being cut, that my contract simply ended and they are not interested in renewing it at the moment. That’s the same thing to me," Souza said. "I’m free to negotiate."

The UFC has to make room for fighters that have truly earned to be in the "super bowl of mma" and are title contenders like CM Punk. ;)

He's 3-1 and is exciting as hell to watch. I really don't understand why he hasn't been re-signed.

I know this has been said before, but to find out from a drug testing organisation as opposed to your fighting organisation is frankly, stupid.

There's got to be more to this that we dont know. Maybe they offered him a new deal before his last fight and chose to fight it out, so they told him to pound sand. Something's not adding up here.

So that puts the free agent list at-

Benson Henderson
Alistair Overeem
Aljamain Sterling
Kevin Souza

3 of those have been given the green light to test the open market and all have said they will.

You guys see a pattern here?

I've said this before: all of them need to go the Randleman/Guillard/Schaub route & bleach their hair. The UFC pays its blondes.

He tweeted the UFC,Dana and Shelby last night asking why? He's a big prospect for the UFC don't know why's they'd leave him go. That's another serious talent now roaming as a free agent. Joining Benson,Reem and Sterling. Dafuq they playing at in the UFC.

It's disgusting.

For a company that prides itself on legitimizing the sport and making it professional, the UFC has a long history of treating its fighters poorly. This is just another example.

Plus, look at the guys record! Even the split decision he won was exciting; those body shots were brutal! My stomach hurt just from watching it! And then he goes on to crush guys. But I guess that's not good enough for Dana and company. Fighters with way worse records have been kept on.

Believe me when I tell you Kevin Souza and me were never friends.
Not at all. We were business associates.

You fucking think I make these calls and tell a 3-1 fighter he ain't getting his fucking shit re-signed? We have a department for that.

And Kevin Souza, I mean, he could have tried harder. He only got POTN bonuses in half his fights. Besides, it's not like the UFC has unlimited funds. Viacom has more fucking money than we do.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna leave this interview to Dave Sholler. I've got a delivery truck full of snow parked in my fucking driveway. Happy fucking New Year ya fuckin goofs.
