Maximo Blanco finally has a new opponent for next week’s UFC Fight Night 81 fight card.

Undefeated RFA vet Luke Sanders (10-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has stepped in to fight Blanco (12-6-1 MMA, 4-3 UFC), who originally was expected to fight fellow featherweight Dennis Bermudez (14-5 MMA, 7-3 UFC).

UFC Fight Night 81 takes place Jan. 17 at TD Garden in Boston. After early prelims on UFC Fight Pass, the remainder of the card airs on FOX Sports 1.

Sanders, a former Strikeforce and XFC fighter who’s the latest RFA champ to earn a UFC contract, moves from bantamweight to featherweight for his fight with Blanco, which is slated for the FOX Sports 1-televised prelims.

Maximo Blanco is a tough introduction on short notice. Good luck to him. If Luke can survive the first round he might be good, but on short notice his gas tank will be depleted which does him no favours.

He maybe losing out on sponsorship money that he was earnin but he'll probably get a way better salary than he ever was getting despite Reebok :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
if he has a good manager, i doubt it. you can't live on 2 fights a year, at base pay.
