Awkward loser ... The Seinfeld character that inspired the Melbourne bar George’s.

GEORGE Costanza, the awkward loser on the cult US comedy Seinfeld, has been immortalised in bricks and mortar with a bar named in his honour opening in Melbourne.

George’s Bar opened its door for the first time on New Year’s Eve serving Costanza-themed toasties and cocktails.

Co-owner and operator Dave Barrett told Fairfax Media he had ordered “a whole bunch of autographed photos” that would be put up around the venue.

He said: “We’ll be continually doing things and layering the theme. When you walk in, the two front doors have two George’s quotes ‘It’s not a lie if you believe it’ and ‘Everyone must like me, I must be liked’.

The concept for the bar in Fitzroy came to him he said because “we really likeSeinfeld”.

The character of Costanza, played by Jason Alexander, appeared in nearly every episode of the long-running NBC sitcom.

He is famously neurotic and socially awkward and is said to be based on the show’s co-creator Larry David.

Mr Barrett said he even had plans to exhibit Costanza-inspired art.

“One guy contacted me last night who lives in Melbourne and who is in the middle of eight different George Costanza paintings. We are talking about doing a show with him.”

Umm, I'm pretty sure Seinfeld was one of the highest rated and most critically acclaimed tv shows of all time. I didn't realize Australia is in a different galaxy.

Toastface Grillah? Are you serious? That's an absolutely incredible name, pure genius. Does the produce come from Golden Farms?
Is the kitchen only made 4 sausage links?
Iron Pan?

Ok I'll stop there...

Lol, dude not only is the name epic.. Apparently, Ghostface heard about it and showed up there one day, playing a surprise show outside of the restaurant.

He actually played like a full set, I've only seen a few clips compiled together. So epic though. If my connection wasn't so slow I'd watch this and see, but I remember him doing a few Wu joints himself and obviously some solo stuff.

Sydney is half Asian, IMO. Yes, they are very nice. I saw some nice Aussie women on the coast outside of Sydney as well.

Ooooh yeah, I travel to regional areas a lot and the white womenz there are very beautiful especially as you say near the coast.

I reckon it comes down to clean air and being more active. very few fatties in rural areas, here in Sydney is another story :(

Being near water makes people want to show skin. People don't want to look bad when doing so. All warm coastal climates have good looking people IME.

I've got a couple friends living in Sydney, and it seems absolutely amazing there. Just gorgeous scenery, and gorgeous women too. Sydney is in my top 5 places I'd love to visit before I die. Especially on New Years.. those fireworks, my god.

I love Seinfeld, George in particular but that place looks hipsterish as fuck. I went on the Kenny Kramer Reality Tour in November when I was in NY, it was fucking amazing. A must do for any Seinfeld or Curb fans.
