Fuck, man. So sorry to hear that. If it's any consolation, this is the article I read just before seeing your thread...

Cancer deaths hit their lowest rate in decades

Medical technology is amazing and fight against cancer is started to shift in our favor. Stay strong for your family, brother. And when you need somewhere to vent, we're here for you.

All the best man, seriously, and if caught early things are so much better and things will be ok....my grandmother (tough as nails), had cancer twice and because they caught it early and she was tough, beat it twice........

Smoked for 50 years...........went into the hospital (for cancer treatment) and didn't smoke for 2 weeks while in there (nor did she want a cigarette), came out and said to my uncle "drive to the first store with cigarettes". I asked her why and she said "l like to smoke......i don't necessarily like or need cigarettes but I like to smoke them"..........don't know what relevance this has but thought I would share........

Damn that is a hard call to get, but cancer isn't necessarily the death sentence it once was. Like mentioned above if they caught it early that's always great, and even if it's late it's amazing what medical science can do now adays. A friend of mine was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer, I'm not a doctor obviously but it was a very bad diagnosis to get, basically it means the cancer was caught late and had already spread, and the survival rate is not good at that stage. All her friends treated it like a death sentence but she fought through it and had a check up last month that confirmed she was 100% cancer free. So it doesn't matter how bad the prognosis might be, people get through that shit all the time so it's best to be as positive as possible and strong for your mom and family.

I'm sorry Joe. My mother told me she had cancer too prior to the hollidays. She said not to worry and her doctor was optimistic that it could all be removed with one surgery. She was calm and seemed unafraid. That helped me big-time. If she had been scared and emtional it would have killed me inside. She had the procedure and was assured it was a success. I was worried the whole time and now am very relieved. I hope your mother can have fortunate luck too and beats this shit. Hang in there buddy.

So sorry to hear that. My dad was diagnosed with cancer for the second time about a year and half ago. I know you will do this but be strong in front of your mom and all of your family. That is what I do and it seems to help. Do whatever you can for your mom and dad in this time and I'm sure things will become easier. It's hard to swallow at first but it puts things into perspective and when your mom starts feeling better your family will be better off as a whole.

I'm not religious but I do believe in positive thought. Think positive, stay positive, good things will come.

that's terrible man no doubt this will be in your head for a while.

I wasn't directly affected but saw it happen a few months ago with my father's sister in law. if anything they have amazing treatments today. they found out a cancer in an advanced stage and she had an infection as well but treatmenthas been a complete sucess so far.

I wish the best for you and your family. be strong.
