Eddie Alvarez and Anthony Pettis are not disturbed by Conor McGregor’s apparent jump to the front of the lightweight contender line for a championship bout with Rafael dos Anjos.

Although there’s plenty of reason for Alvarez and Pettis to be upset by McGregor getting a title shot in a division where he’s never competed under the UFC banner, neither fighter seems particularly rattled by the news.

In fact, Alvarez said McGregor is actually deserves the opportunity despite his feeling that “The Notorious” is making the move at a “convenient” time when 145-pound contender Frankie Edgar is ready for a title shot of his own.

“I’ve been in the game a long time, I understand what the game’s about; (McGregor’s) done a great job with what he’s doing and he’s getting everything he deserves,” Alvarez told MMAjunkie. “What I do think is that Frankie Edgar will beat him, and it’s really convenient to leave the division right now when the only person left is Frankie Edgar. That’s what I think.”

He's right and I'm not so sure Conor can beat rda (that I even think this will be a serious fight shows how gun shy I am regarding Conor) or many others at that weight......frankies best route to getting the fight is to follow him and make it look like Conor's scared......IMO

RDA is the bigger fight. That's really all it comes down to.

Conor is about proving he's the best AND making money, so he'll beat RDA and then come back down to featherweight and beat Frankie if Frankie doesn't lose to Aldo in a #1 contender match.

This would be something if it was something but its nothing. Its been his intention to move BACK 155 for a while. I think people forget that he didn't make his featherweight debut until his 11th pro fight, that he pretty much is a natural 155er

Conor is avoiding Edgar. It's not a good match up for him and everyone knows it. For him to lose the title in his first defense is not an option. All his hype would evaporate immediately. He could move up and fight Dos Anjos though and probably lose as well but have people look at it as he's a warrior who moved up and fought at a weight disadvantage. He has little to lose by moving up but everything to lose by getting his ass kicked by Edgar. Conor is a smart business man and an expert at self promotion.

That would make some semblance of sense if he wasn't leaving the division to fight a brutal monster like Dos Anjos.
Alvarez went full derp on that one...

Hopefully RDA slows the train, and these other fighters get some "Notoriety"

'Unsuccessful people focus on successful people while successful people focus on themselves.'

Good lil Conor quote here seems appropriate...

Eddie will never be champ at 155 with guys like Khabib n Furgeson and RDA around. Hell he couldn't even take out Cerrone a little over a year ago. He won't get past Pettis. I don't even mean to infer that maybe if Alverez 'focused' on himself that he'd be champ one day cuz he simply never had 'it' to begin with and he's always been incredibly overrated, imo.

It's sad how these guys gotta sit tight and watch Conor go out there and do every aspect of the profession they both share so much better than they could ever dream to imagine. 'Look at what I could have been if only I had a personality with the skills to back it up.'

Even if McGregor gets straight up wrecked by either RDA or Edgar or both, he'll still have a career and a future as a fighter. If he beats RDA he will be on absolute fire and I think it's a brilliant move even if a bit risky. Nobody knows who Alverez is today and they won't know who he is 10 years from now so not sure why he's questioning Conor.

Also anyone feeling sorry for Frankie must not have been a fan of mma for very long. Anyone who has been paying attention should know how favorable the UFC has been to him throughout his career starting with the gift win over BJ in UAE to his rematch with Benson which he lost to then jumping into his first fight at 145 for the belt with Aldo coming off a LOSS and blew it. I'm ok with him being next in line at 145 but crying because Conor is going to challenge up first is rediculous after all the favoritism he's recived. I'm not as confident as I was against Jose that Conor will beat Frankie but man he's got a decent shot. I really hope he splits him in half.

It would be funny if RDA does the patented Brazil Rush and gets KOed Aldo style.

It would make sense, if Mcgregor had vacated the featherweight belt, yet, he hasn't. He has been the one pushing to hold both belts, meaning he will have to fight Frankie, but the opportunity for the RDA fight was there, why not take it?

McGregor plans to hold both belts and defend them simutaniously. Fighting 4 times a year.
