Tar sands is a term used to make them sound evil and dirty by Greenpeace.

Our oil operations are an international scapegoat and it's a bit of a sore point with many.

yeah.i agree america doesn't have castles...just mansions.
castles were feudal lords and fiefdom noble defensive stuff.... we had none of that going on here.
