Fans have been wanting a step up in competition for rising star Michael Page. He's about to get it.
Page will meet veteran welterweight Fernando Gonzalez in the co-main event of Bellator 151 on March 4 at WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla., sources told MMA Fighting on Monday. Bellator officials confirmed the bout.
Page (9-0) is a major building block for Bellator. He has won all but one of his pro fights via finish and does so with a unique flair and charisma. Page, 28, is a former kickboxing and sport karate champion. The Englishman has a large amount of star potential, but the knock on him is that he has not yet fought an elite fighter.
Gonzalez (24-13) might not be a top-10 welterweight in the world, but he is extremely durable and solid all-around. He's coming off a decision loss to Paul Daley in a kickboxing match at Bellator MMA: Dynamite 1 back in September.
