Being a marine (specifically a grunt) on a ship is like being the kid who gets adopted into a family living in a trailer park. We got the shit end of everything. They actually emptied the shitters when we were doing stern gate operations. Muthafuckas!
What does a Marine actually do aboard ship? Just PT? Did you guys have to stand watch?

Curious because I have no idea. I was always under the impression that you guys just did some morning PT and then just sat around watching movies and eating chow.

Lots of spades and bones, till late at night so we'd get the good midnight chow for the wing. Workout. We'd polish and grease the bright work on the howitzers. Sleep. Go down to the well deck or lower and grapple. Fuck with people. And then the boots would have to help in the kitchen, some people would be those dudes that walked around with the billy clubs on duty. And go topside and get yelled at for leaning over the front and let the wind hold us up. Watch the harriers and helicopters take off. Shoot our rifles. Stupid shit like that. Then when we got closer to Kuwait they fucked with us more and would have midnight formations and stupid bullshit to get us back to being miserable and angry.

Wow so on a navy ship, with a MEU attached, you got attached to the green side. That's weird but I honestly didn't pay much attention to the Navy when we were on ship. So I'm assuming when you were part of the vbss team is when you were attached to the MEU? Or were you attached to the marine air wing?
If you don't want to get into it in public like this that's cool. But I'm super curious and would atleast like to talk via pm if you wanted.
I don't know what this thread is about, but I dressed like this in the Navy.

I was in a boat company. We trained all the time. They would flood the stern and we would all float out on CRRC's. A moment that could have ended badly: both our engines went out at 0200 in the middle of the med. we were a few miles away from the ship. We only had chem lights to signal the rest of our company. Somebody saw us swinging those around and came back to tow us in. The sea is VERY dark at night.

we do everything we'd normally do on land, but on a boat, in small confined spaces. PT, Train, McMap, Classes, Clean Weapon, Clean Area, Wait in line for chow 1 hour before, stand firewatch around the vehicles so the squids don't go in there and fuck, and on down time, play spades. that's about it. rather do all of that on Land, or not...

We wore green as well. When I was part of the fleet i did VBSS boardings in the gulf.
Those are MK5 SWCC boats. Ive been on them. We do not want the Iranians to have them. All the crypto and everything else. This whole thing is strange. I just cant imagine under any circumstance letting them board my boat. Those boats are used for SEAL operations. All 10 would be highly trained and should have gone to SERE school.

Hahaha. What a joke!
We're really supposed to believe 2 US navy boats both "experienced mechanical problems and drifted into Iranian waters"!! Hahaha.
