Some of you probably crawled into bed last night, laid next to your wives, and thought to yourselves "omg when is the Priziesthorse going to post his top movies from the 80s?!?!?" Well guess what my homies?

Wow. The motherfuckin' 80's. While I would not say this is the best era for movies, I would say this is comparable to the lightweight or welterweight division in mma. This decade is stacked with greatness. My list started with 47 movies. Narrowing it down to 10 was a more painful experience than breaking up with any girlfriend. Without further ado...

10. Raising Arizona (1987) Coen brothers
"And the doc went on to explain that this woman, who looked as fertile as the Tennessee Valley, could bear no young. Her insides were a rocky place where my seed could find no purchase."

No love for the Coen brothers films in the 90's by you silly sacks of shit, but here they are again. One of my all time favorite comedies. Robbing convenience stores, stealing babies, an apocalpytic bounty hunter. Theres a certain amount of pleasure I take from watching their films that I don't get from any other filmmaker.

9. Stand By Me (1986) Rob Reiner
"I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?"

If not for another movie coming later on my list, I would say this is the greatest Stephen King adaptation of all time. No other movie has the power to make me long for my childhood like this one. I can see aspects of my own adolescent self mirrored in each of the main characters. Best coming of age film ever.

8. The Terminator (1984) James Cameron
"I'll be back."

A post-apocalyptic future and a terrifying, indestructible villain. The gloomy atmosphere of constant threat and knowing of the coming storm. Groundbreaking movie for its time.

7. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) Steven Spielberg
"Lightning. Fire. The power of God or something."

As action adventure movies go, this might be the very best. No need for any terrible CGI bullshit. This is pure cinematic entertainment from start to finish.

6. Die Hard (1988) John McTiernan
"Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker."

John McClane is one of the most memorable action stars in movie history. Hans Gruber is equally as impressive as the villain. Quality comedy moments. Loved the buddy element with Carl Winslow. Probably my favorite action movie of all time.

You may be experiencing a wide variety of emotions after reading the first 5 movies on my list. Take this time to compose yourself.

Wait 10 minutes....

5. Ghostbusters (1984) Ivan Reitman
"We came, we saw, we kicked its ass!"

It hurts my heart that they are making a 3rd movie. No one will ever be able to recreate the magic of the first movie. This is a timeless classic. Best comedy/horror film of all time. Bill Burray is MVP.

4. Aliens (1986) James Cameron
"You know, Burke, I don't know which species is worse. You don't see them fucking each other over for a goddamn percentage."

A rare time when a sequel is actually better than the movie that precedes it. More of an action film this time around. More intense, horrifying, and faster paced.

3. Blade Runner (1982) Ridley Scott

"I don't get it, Tyrell. How can it not know what it is?"

For many like myself, it stands as one the finest science fiction films ever made. Blade Runner is a mesmerizing experience that just seems to broaden your mind visually and mentally. The pace is slow, but with an engaging climax.

2. The Shining (1980) Stanley Kubrick
"Wendy? Darling? Light, of my life. I'm not gonna hurt ya. You didn't let me finish my sentence. I said, I'm not gonna hurt ya. I'm just going to bash your brains in."

Nicholson's performance is disturbing, creepy, and brilliant. This is the most beautiful horror film I have ever seen. The camera movement, the score, and production design are just on entire different level of filmmaking. You probably have to watch this movie a dozen times to truly appreciate all that is going on.

1. Raging Bull (1980) Martin Scorcese
"Who's an animal? Your mother's an animal, ya son of a bitch. "

Scorcese's finest work. A man, a whore, and prizefighting. A haunting film crafted with plenty of honesty and unpretentious realism. A poetic tale of self destruction by the anti-hero Jake LaMotta.

I think Greek777 @Galanis would approve of this ranking.

That concludes our program for this evening. Hope you enjoyed the show. If you have a shitty Clint Eastwood movie from this decade on your list, please lift your shield and lose my number Wild @I Wild Each It seekntruth @seekntruth Zeph @OvereemsBBCgaveMeZephilis

Disclaimer: 3 girls died of broken hearts over the course of making this list. They had to be turned down for sex in order to give my full attention to 80's movies.

Solid list you've created sir. I'm horrible picking the best of anything unless its narrowed down to genre, mood, who's with you and so on. Having said that I'd remove Raging Bull and I've never seen number 10. Flame away for my opinion on RB but for some reason 75% of movies that are loaded with awards and Oscars or whatever don't do well with me. Id add in....

Back to the Future
Ferris Buellers Day Off
Platoon
The Lost Boys
The Untouchables
Scarface
Wall Street

And I have to mention Roadhouse for Robbie Hart.

I was born in '75, so the best years of my childhood was smack dab in this decade. My movie choices are based a lot on fond memories that come rushing back when I watch any of these. My list may not live up to critics standards, but oh well :p

10. RED DAWN (1984)

9. BIG (1988)

8. First Blood (1982)

7. Popeye (1980)

6. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (1987)

5. Big Trouble in Little China (1986)

4. Vision Quest (1985)

3. Roadhouse (1989)

2. The Goonies (1985)

1. Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)

I'm really not committed on the order. I love them all equally as well as many many more

Honorable mentions include; Caddyshack, The Great Outdoors, Uncle Buck, The Karate Kid, Bloodsport and tons more really.

Oh, Prizie...God Bless ya, you are funny my man. I gotta give you that. But sit back, kick your velcro shoes off, grab some buttery popcorn (cinema style)...and let me show you what an award winning list of 1980's movies looks like. Mkay? Great.

#10 Stand By Me: One we surprisingly agree on.

#9 Sixteen Candles: A younger Anthony Michael Hall endears himself to America is this romantic comedy for the ages. Molly Ringwald itching to be fingerbanged by the older Jake Ryan, made 14-18 year young men fap until their cocks fell off in their non-callus hands. And then there was arguably the greatest actor in Hollywood history, Long Duk Dong, who put on an award winning performance.

#8 Vacation: Forget about this one? Well the moose out front shoulda told ya, my friend.

#7 Stripes: Although your list is a 5 gallon bucket of Boston Terrier shit, Priziesthorse...I wanna party with you cowboy.

#6 Fast Times at Ridgemont High: Sean Penn makes his cinema debut is this comedic masterpiece, where marijuana smoking surfer meets hardass History teacher. Where a young Phoebe Cates is begging to have unprotected sex with her college boyfriend, but loses him to this thing called life. Where Forest Whitaker dances his ass off at the annual sock hop. This is a film that will stand the test of time, my friend.

#5 First Blood: I could have killed 'em all, I could've killed you. In town you're the law, out here it's me. Don't push it! Don't push it or I'll give you a war you won't believe. Let it go. Let it go!

#4 Roadhouse: RIP Dalton!!

#3 Wall Street: The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. Thank you very much.

#2 A Christmas Story: They don't play this every Christmas for 24 hours straight for nothing.

#1 Scarface: I should permaban you from this site for not even having this on your list...let alone not having it at the top. You wanna fuck with me? Okay. You wanna play rough? Okay. Say hello to my little friend!

#10 Johnny Be Good: Anyone win an Oscar here? Fuck no. Should they? Your God damned right, they should have. Anthony Michael Hall captivated the hearts pre-teens across this country, with his breathtaking performance. Uma Thurman was both precise and forceful in her first leading role appearance as Georgia Elkans. And Robert Downey Jr? Forget about it!

#9 Full Metal Jacket: : "Today … is Christmas! There will be a magic show at zero-nine-thirty! Chaplain Charlie will tell you about how the free world will conquer Communism with the aid of God and a few Marines! God has a hard-on for Marines, because we kill everything we see! He plays His games, we play ours! To show our appreciation for so much power, we keep heaven packed with fresh souls! God was here before the Marine Corps! So you can give your heart to Jesus, but your ass belongs to the Corps! Do you ladies understand?"

Y'all will prob look at this list and go yep, she's for sure a chick lol. Also, I love that this thread proves yet again that John Hughes owned the 80's. In no particular order, my faves, and this was HARD, the 80's holds a special place in cinematic history for me, I could list so many:

Sixteen Candles
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Breakfast Club
Dirty Dancing
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Scarface
Goonies
The Dark Crystal
Flashdance
Coming to America

There's SO many more...Better Off Dead, Caddyshack, Top Gun, it hurts to stop at 10
