Almost four in every 100 Brits have admitted to enjoying a wee tipple as they fessed up to drinking their own urine .
Urophagia, or urine therapy has been used to treat a range of conditions since ancient times.
But a surprising number of famous names have enjoyed the unusual drink includingsurvival expert Bear Grylls who was shown drinking his own wee on TV programme Man VS Wild to keep hydrated.
Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez, British actress Sarah Miles, Author J.D. Salinger and former Prime Minister of India Morarji Desai are just a few of the famous names that have admitted to regularly drinking urine.

In India, an ancient holistic healing system known as Ayurveda is said to help treat conditions such as asthma , allergies, indigestion, wrinkles and even cancer.
While in the UK couple Bex Long and John Dixon appeared on This Morning to demonstrate the act and claimed that drinking their own urine had “banished symptoms of depression as well as making their eyes brighter and their skin clearer”.
Plumbworld, who conducted a survey of the nation’s bathroom habits, realised new drinkers might need something to disguise the natural taste of urine so they came up with a range of cocktails including the Pee’na Gryllada and a Long Island Iced Pee.
