So my first visit to the endocrinologist is coming up tuesday. What should I expect? Besides being told to lose weight fat ass? Going for low test ( sub 200 )

They're just going to do bloodwork, and ask you how you're feeling etc. Once the bloodwork comes back, they'll educate you on TRT and the options available. Do the injections...not the cream.

In all seriousness i thought they did do an all over exam to chart body hair growth, any testicle deformities ( enlarged, bumps, etc ) and stuff like that.
Not from my experience. My Urologist checks testes and prostate, but not my Endo. They just took bloodwork, etc.

Hoping to get word back today from the endo, had an appointment last week. She wanted to do some more tests so i had blood work done on thursday. She actually did ask if i had a testicular exam and i told her i haven't. I was supposed to mention it to my GP or on my next visit to her she could do it. Ill let her do it rather then a short jewish guy groping my sac while his assistant looks on.

Anything I should bring up to her? Like I don't want to grow titties, i got them already from the gut I have. Kinda don't want my nuts to shrink either. Wondering if there is something other then TRT to get on that could help raise my overall itself.

do you start at your PCP to get a referral to an endo? Does insurance cover any of this?

Yea started with my PCP. I asked if I could get my test tested, he asked why, explained, said no problem since I was having blood work done for normal checkup. Total came back at 190. His med assistant called me when he got the results, told me what was up, suggested 3 endos. Made appointment with endo, called PCP for referral, that was that.

Saw my PCP & knee doc last week for a follow up. Told PCP I had to get more bloodwork for the endo. We went over some things. Like getting my weight down, some diet restrictions. I basically am borderline fat guyabetes. So I gotta start eating right for the weight, gout and overall health. Have to drop 10lbs in 6 weeks. Told him the thought of jabbing a needle into my leg once a week was worrying. He said there is gel but he is iffy on that. Kinda joked around about how he has some people that come in saying they need TRT and want it without ever getting bloodwork done or anything. My PCP is pretty cool.

Saw my ortho about my knee on monday. Wasn't able to get a MRI cause insurance said no, xray only. Said based on my past MRI ( 5 yrs ago ), recent xray ( which i posted here ) and the grinding in my knee, I can't do any type of high impact shit. Be it exercise or work. Asked how many times and when I injured my knee in the past cause it showed a lot of "wear and tear" and like i had banged it up before a few times. He didn't elaborate on that though. Was concerned about that cause of my age. ( 30s ). Good thing is he said if I have any problems with it to come right up, since he knows exactly what he would be dealing with. So thats a plus at least. At least now I have an idea of what I can't and can do.

So as for working out I started doing a 30 day squat thing the other day. I can't run or do any type of hard cardio training, which i need. So its squats and walking for now. Maybe some biking if I can get one. Basically just body weight exercise if I can get myself to do it day in day out. I seriously lack any type of motivation anymore, its horrible. I got a planet fitness near me I keep debating on joining but I can't get myself to go up yet. Got to call Endo tomorrow to find out these blood work results.

As for insurance, I am covered for the visits as long as I get the referrals. Sucked about the MRI with my knee but that was expected. Kind of worried what is going to happen with the test itself if insurance doesn't cover that. What am I looking at out of pocket?

How do you guys get a referral to find out about low testosterone? I'm assuming at 31 years of age my levels would still be ok?

Well the squats I am doing no weight, just body, to actually HELP my knees and strengthen the muscles. Swimming & Biking are a no go atm. Walking is my only goto atm.

As for getting it checked. Just ask your primary doctor. When i initially got checked i was 360-390 range at 32/33. Which is on the low end of the spectrum. My doc said it was fine though, even though my symptons said otherwise.

Yes, unless you have a medical issue or have used AAS in the past. No referral needed. Just visit an Endo, and tell him you would like bloodwork done to check hormone levels. That will start the process.

Endo called me back with my results.
Initially I was 194 total beginning of march. So she wanted more bloodwork done. Did that on the 2nd of this month. She is going to mail out everything but over the phone she told me my total was at 136 and my free was at 3.8.

From what I can gather I have the test of a 120yr old woman.

She wants to put me on 200mg test cyp every 2 weeks for the 1st two months, will do blood work after that to see where I am at and adjust from there. Said she would like my levels around 700 range.

She is contacting my insurance to set me up with an MRI of my head to check my pituitary gland and make sure everything is ok there. Going to call monday and set up an appointment for my first shot. Nervous but excited.

Fuck that is LOW dude. I was 241 and felt like death warmed over, so I can only imagine how shitty you feel. You are going to feel like a new man 3 weeks after your first injection...trust me. Sort of surprised she is going with 200mg to be honest...typically they error on the low side, and go with 150mg, so you've got yourself a good Endo. Embrace this brother because good times, they are a comin'.

Did you ever do AAS (gear/steroids) in your younger days? That's what drove my test levels down so low when I hit 40. Curious why yours would be so low, if you don't have any medical issues going on. Hopefully they find out the cause and get that addressed, but regardless...this is a huge step in the direction of improved quality of life.

Congrats!

@I Wild Each It
I never even really worked out growing up. Just weights on the arms and just being athletic was it. I been feeling this way for the past 10-15 years too. Developed social anixety, depression, became very sarcastic and cynical at times. Zero motivation, should I say confidence. I have no self worth at all. My emotions were all over the place..like ill find myself just out right crying at tv commercials and shit lol.

Weight gain over the past 10 years probably hasn't helped. Went from 210 to 240 in 3 months after a car accident in my early 20s then slowly just ballooned up since then. Days on end in the bar and bar food will do that apparently. I really ballooned up the past 2 years though and I kinda cut back drinking altogether ( gout ). I need to drop weight big time. Hopefully this gives me that umpf

Friends and family always use to joke about me being lazy, sleeping all day and stuff. Guess I know why now. Between this and the constant job failures, maybe ill finally be able to get a damn life of my own. I haven't been able to get myself to go on damn job interviews and the few times I did, they were absolute bombs. So yea hoping all of this shit helps take care of that anxiety, depression symptons etc.

She told me not to worry about the MRI of my pituitary gland, said it is pretty standard when looking for reasons for low T.

edit: Now the horror of injecting myself

so 700 is in your 20's

Range is markedly variable by person, day, age, etc.
A target of 600-700 is pretty industry standard for being in a normal range while giving enough effects that the patient feels a clinical difference.

I did bring up how i was worried about man boobs ( even bigger then i have now ) and possible nut skrinkage. She said that usually happens to those who are taking excessive amounts. Basically people abusing it for lifting, bodybuilding, training etc. Said on a standard routine that I am doing it wouldn't be an issue but she will monitor it regardless.

Friend told me to ask to get on clomid also while doing this. Is that needed? Told me i should otherwise I will suddenly find myself crying at tampon commercials lol

Nah man, You dont need to be concerned about gyno, or your estrogen crashing on TRT dose. You wouldn't take Clomid for that anyway...you would take Ameridex (Adex), but dont even worry about it. You may experience some nut shrinkage though...just have to wait and see how your body reacts. If you do, a simple Clomid or HCG regimen will take care of that (but I doubt you experience it).

Funny thing. Like the endo said it was really low. Wild said it is way low. This has been normal feeling to me for a long time now. I honesty don't know what to expect. I mean you spend the last like 10 yrs feeling like this then find out i should be feeling another way complete. Kinda screws with your mind a bit cause my normal is anything but.

Hard to explain but think I got the gist of it across.
