Personally i'd be wanting to fight RDA. Title + avenge a loss + decent $ fight at 155.
Yes, he took a chance and now he finds himself in a spot where he can actually ask for that fight. Conor will have to return to his division to defend his belt, so Diaz would make sense for a shot. Even though he doesn't have much of a winning streak going on, he certainly has the spotlight shining brightly on him now. What does he do? He looks already in the past and talks about a fighter he beat. At least Conor knows how to aim forward and grab those oppertunities. That is how you deal with the UFC.

RDA vs Diaz would be a hell of a fight.

ppl making excuses for conor obviously have no idea how the game works
..Conors spirit was broken cuz he couldn't KO Nate...He was so delusional that he thinks he can KO ANY man of ANY size..No you can't Conor...He ate his own words and had no other choice but to be humble because he got owned on the ground...

Any good grappler who gets him to the ground will sub him...Hes not invincible and once the fight vs Lawler was brought up I officially was over the antics...Dfw hypocritical ass bringing GSP into the matter just shows how big a bitch he is...Your golden baby got beat Dana get over it..Quit pissing on other guys to Support your dumb ass...Dfw name sounds like a female hippo who masturbates to cook books..fk off Dana

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Nate's only fought at WW 4 times, going 2-2. The 2 losses being decision losses to Stun Gun and Rory. Undersized at WW for sure. So to say he went up two weight classes is misleading- he fought a LW and they mutually agreed not to cut weight.

And it's easy to be humble in defeat when you got finished (what more is there to say?). We'll see how he handles a close decision or if he carries himself any different in the following weeks (my guess would be no).
He got robbed against Stun Gun and lost a decision to Rory, which is nothing to be ashamed of for anyone, so should be 3-1. So yeah, I agree it is misleading to say he went up 2 weight divisions, but he did fight a guy who was much bigger than him. Diaz is a big 155lber, remember he missed weight badly against RDA coming in at 160.

There are excuses he could have used and crutches he could have leaned on like Ronda did. He took it in good spirits. He'll be back.

OP got me thinking of a similar situation, of when Cain Velasquez was submitted by Fabricio Werdum. Although Werdum did a lot to cause that desperation takedown from Cain, people talk about how Cain's blackbelt is not comparable to Werdum's blackbelt and that is the big reason Cain lost. It was Werdum's awesome planning and performance that won him the fight but people were quick about Cain's excuse (therefore Sea-level Cain was born)and Werdum's overall strategy was dis-credited and now only a rematch can settle this but not really cuz Cain will never be the same.

The ending of Nate/Conor fight played out in a similar fashion where Conor was on the verge of getting finished and went for a desperate takedown. At first people were saying, "Conor's JuJitsu Sux!" but eventually after all the breakdowns from the great jujitsu minds everyone changed gears about Conor's JuJitsu. (i'm guilty of it too) Then the excuses started piling in. "Conor fought 2 weight clsses up on short noice, he was gassed. Conor's JuJitsu is good, he just got hurt. Conor had a bad game plan, should have chopped up the legs. Conor had a full camp against RDA not Nate, Conor was winning until he lost, Conor's movement coach was a fraud, Conor's humble in victory or defeat, Conor got too cocky this time and he'll comeback humble and whip Frankie's Ass." I can see how Nate will be annoyed. He's the one coming to fight at 11 days notice, (that's like maybe 3days of training considering all that stupid media obligations) and having a real fighter's attitude like Nate, it's just simple as "I'm the better fighter and won." Conor was tested and failed. Conor still has many more tests ahead of him such as Frankie Edgar who many believe is more durable than Nate.

but then none of this is from Conor, it's the UFC, Media, and Fans with Conor nuts still in their mouth. In a way I think Conor is very relieved about this loss. Now he has an excuse to only focus on his training and I'm stoked to see how he'll come back.

Most of the champions in every division are the bigger guys, Jon Jones, Rockhold, Lawler, RDA, Cruz all these guys cut a shit ton of weight what makes Conor so different. Come on man he is easy top 10 at lightweight.

Nate is completely right there are so many excuses coming out especially about exhaustion and Nate being the bigger man and all of this mumbo jumbo their tune changed extremely considering the way they were speaking prior to the fight happened, that dido portal guy even went as far to upload videos bragging about how "rejuvenated" and "energised " conor was without the weight cut . Conor himself was proclaiming all this to be true , at the same time he tries to say "it is what it is " and not make excuses but his fans are the ones spewing excuses . The way I see it the could be great for conor or bad for him , many champions learn from defeat and come back stronger . But there is always the darkside and his confidence might be marred even though he wouldn't show it , time will tell . I hope he and Frankie fight at UFC 200 #waredgar

Yeah but you gotta give Conor credit for having the balls to go up two weight classes
Why do we have to give him credit for doing something no one asked him to do? He was supposed to fight at 155, that's one weight class higher than where he's champion. Nate (#5 ranked lightweight) comes in on 10 days notice, fresh from partying in Cabo as a replacement for RDA. Diaz said in the press conference that he could've made weight, but 160-165 would be better for him since he took the fight on such short notice. He never demanded 165 as first reported. Conor tells Dana to make it 170, either as an act of bravado or for the far more plausible reason that Conor himself didn't want to cut weight. So Dana makes the fight at 170, and both guys come in underweight, of course. When McGregor moves up and fights Lawler, Rory, Wonderboy, or even Nick Diaz, then I'll give him credit for moving up two weight divisions because real welterweights cut 15-20 pounds to make 170, and that's something entirely different from what we saw at UFC 196.
