"I think that DC definitely can [win]," he told Ariel Helwani during an interview on The MMA Hour. "He definitely can. You know, DC, he seems different this time around. He seems different this time mentally speaking. Honestly speaking, this is a fight that DC…he has to win. Like, if DC doesn’t win this fight, there really — he would have to retire if he doesn’t win this fight."

Still, though Evans thinks Cormier can beat Jones the second time around, he believes that a second loss against "Bones" would signal the end.

"It’s like, what does he do then?" Evans said. "Does he try to face Jon again for the third time? Once you take away a man’s desire to be the best -- or he knows that he can’t be the best -- then in a sense, you just kill that man off. So if he loses this fight, Jon would have killed him off. There’s no reason. The competitive grind would be gone."

I'd like DC to win and set up a trilogy personally.

He should just wait for Jones to move up to heavyweight and then he can rule the division.

Though I think Gustafsson would have a decent chance against Cormier in a rematch.

If Cain loses to Werdum again AKA should pivot and have them switch weight classes. Cain could lose some dough and make 205 while DC could go back to battering heavyweights.

But if he won the title Jones would just move up and take it again. What a heartbreaker that would be.

It's odd to think that #2s best option is to retire. Jones is a killer, he's the absolute last guy to be shameful of losing to. If DC loses then he should take fights at LWH/HW and make his style a little more risky and just be a fun guy to root for and watch. He's very exciting at times with his throws and slams and he's got good power in his hands so it should be easy to just spend his twilight years becoming a fan favorite.

The Jon Jones one was the sloppiest, he had gassed out at the moment and didn't have the power / explosiveness to slam him the right way. The others are brutal. Rashad Evans should just stay irrelevant and leave retirement decisions to the fighters themselves. I don't like DC's personality as he's one of the cheasiest people out there but as a fighter he is as legit as they come.

He picks up guys who are much bigger than him and make them look like toys.

Really? I honestly felt that other than round 5, that was one of the top 5 greatest matches in MMA history. The technical striking and wrestling on display was incredible. Even round 5 was amazing because of how thoroughly broken DC was, desperately shooting after a takedown to get some sort of moral victory even though the fight was so close. That fight was Shakespearean level drama.

Rashad didn't say the normative "should retire." He said the descriptive "probably will" which was an analysis based on DC's personality and goals. Nothing irrelevant about that.

I meant in terms of one side dominating the other. Jones didn't dismantle DC to say he would have to retire if he loses again.
