How did he prostitute himself to the UFC? Doesn't he still cover other organizations and their fighters on the MMA Hour?

Yes he does have a heavy focus on the UFC and also took a job with them, but it is the premier organization in MMA so what else would be expected of him?
Ain't nobody got time to explain all that. All you have to do is Google something like "Helwani working for UFC" or something like that if you want to know, as opposed to chitchatting about not knowing.

A real journalist doesn't go to work for the institution s/he is supposed to be covering.

A real anything doesn't compromise her/himself that way. Once you do that, you're fake forever.

Oh, and this:

"Cro Cop was punking all of us. I hope Cro Cop goes on a three fight losing streak and gets the hell out of MMA. He’s a disgrace…He can’t even beat Mostapha Al-Turk without poking him in the eye." - Helwani

Yeah i really didn't appreciate the Cro Cop comment personally.

Bob would fuck up Ariel lol, some strong words being used by Ariel in the 1st video, like cheating people out of money?

3rd video, he goes "Are you getting mad Bob?". Understandably so Ariel, you're acting like a grade A thundercunt.

I see where he was coming from I suppose but really seemed he was picking on him a bit. Funny that Ariel tweeted this last month:

He ever say anything about the Takada fight? Doubt it cause Coleman would probably throw him about the place for an hour or so. Ariels a prick.

I'm pretty sure we all know why, zuffa didn't agree with him stepping out of line. I hope he decides to say fuck zuffa and become more neutral. I bet they bring in some mouth piece such as Megan

I like Ariel....but a neutral Ariel....if he has any personal tie's to any one show it dilute's what he does.

He's good at his job.

Fuck Ariel. Another one that forgot where he came from. Gets a bit of money and notoriety and forgets it wasn't long ago he was nothing more than a fan himself. He should show some respect to those that actually have the balls to step in there.

I never cared for his FOX stuff, because it's clearly biased, but I felt he always did a solid job on his MMAFighting.com shows. He represents the sport well, imo.

Anything in particular that rubbed you the wrong way with him? I'm hoping maybe he'll finally open up about that time he got shelved for a couple months. He said he'd come out with the story one day. What better time than now?

Yeah, I'm pretty good with letting shit go normally but that's disrespectful enough to still bother me to this day.
I agree that's some disrespectful shit. Me as a fan I go for fighters to win. If they don't good for the opponent that won. Never have I wished anything bad for any fighter, that's as a fan. I know we bullshit about fighters and such but never wish them harm or anything to mess with there livelihood. This dude is a "professional journalists" that shit isn't right. Q the Matt Serra meme.

I dont know what it is about Ariel, theres just something I cant like about him. Not sure but I dont think the fighters are great fans of his either remember seeing an interview he did with Nick Diaz and Nick basically called him an instigater, stirring shit up between the fighters.
Nick was wrong on that one.
Ariel does instigate, but he didn't with Nick in that case.

However, his Cro Cop gaffe was unforgiveable... till he defended Fedor's GOAT status right to BLAFucks face.......

He's kind of like Joe Rogan. on and off. Sometimes he is on point, sometimes he's looking for the best cock to suck up to.
However, he does ask very good questions when interviewing fighters, which is his best asset.

I think he is very good at what he does. Probably the best in the business, when it comes to conducting an interview, and I really enjoy The MMA Hour. I just think the guy should remember where he came from. 10 years ago, he was a big nosed dork posting on message boards, and now he's a pompous ass who thinks he's the authority on MMA...talking shit to fighters that don't meet his standards, etc. Lack of humility is an extreme pet peeve of mine.

Yeah, I'm pretty good with letting shit go normally but that's disrespectful enough to still bother me to this day.
MMA is filled with amateur reporters. On the other hand, all of sports now is. It's just that the bigger sports have more journalists, and you get some good ones peppered throughout. Plus some of the old guard is still left in those sports, though they are dropping off. Like WWII vets, pretty soon there won't be any left at all.

Now, I'm not saying MMA is totally devoid of good reporting, as that plainly isn't true. But too many have no writing or journalism background---they never cut their teeth anywhere. Legions of writers are still out there learning on the job, and reading their work is like wrapping tinfoil on your teeth while listening to nails rake the chalkboard. And in 2016, we STILL get these video interviews with $10 mics and drain pipe acoustics. And so on.

The internet is the culprit, of course. You can be anything you want online: a tough guy, a rich guy, a writer, a guru. Whatever you want. Now, Ariel isn't really that group---he has the journalism degree, for one thing---but he honed his professional craft in the internet era, which has TMZ'd the fuck out of the information experience. So there's some suspect shit going on, and some odd behavior, like the Cro Cop thing. That was so bizarre and unprofessional.

Nonetheless, it's something I managed to forget as time went by. What I found more disturbing was Ariel's relationship with Zuffa. I always get the feeling that some things can't be talked about, and it interferes with the positive stuff that Ariel brings.

On that score I can't lie--- he's a top notch interviewer who keeps excellent flow and cadence (no awkward silences, stammering or filler) while covering subjects that are admittedly difficult. There are only so many ways to ask a fighter how training camp is going, how's your state of mind, etc. He's pretty good at keeping that stuff fresh. But those Dana interviews...they feel scripted, at the very least like he's been handed a list of recent events not to ask about (the general list, the one every reporter must adhere to, has been leaked for some time now).

What I like from Ariel is his show (not a real devotee, but I do snag the occasional clip), and his non-Dana interviews.
