If McGregor/Diaz isn't the main event..

StillReal

My name is Mark.
..that means the fight would be three rounds, which heavily favors McGregor, in my opinion.

Conor has a much better shot at outstriking Nate for 2 of 3 rounds than he does lasting a full 5 without gassing or getting taken down.

If this fight takes place at UFC 200, is it for sure going to be the main event? Would the UFC book it as the co-main just to give McGregor that slight advantage? It seems hard to book it as the main event with Conor's hype train derailed (slightly).

If this wasn't thread worthy my apologies, but its just something I thought of that I hadn't seen discussed.

From what Ariel Helwani has been saying, all signs point to it being the main event.

In terms of Conor's hype train being derailed, I disagree. Every Conor McGregor fight is gonna be huge no matter what, and he will still be one of the UFC's most marketable fighters. Think about how many titles have changed hands in the last year or so. Jones is their only untouchable left. One loss doesn't derail a hype train for Conor, Northcutt, VanZant, any of them in my opinion.

I really really really really hope this fight doesn't happen.
If Conor or Diaz are smart they will not take this fight.

Interesting, although Nate will have a full camp.
I won't favor Mcgregor.
Don't really care what the moneychangers say.

It is definitely the smartest fight for Diaz.

Another massive payday that won't be close to matched by any other fight he could take and he is the favorite to win.

Even if Diaz loses, he will make so much he could probably retire if he wanted.

Don't apologize for shit son!

Speak your mind. I often make threads with no intent of actually discussing things, I just like saying what's on my mind.
I'm just actually surprised that the UFC isn't pursuing this option.

If they made the fight at 155 and as the co-main event, if Conor wins they could just say that 170 was a little out of his reach and now he is back better than ever.

If they make it the main and at 170, I'm a huge Conor nuthugger but this match up is a disaster for him. It isn't any better at 155. But I think in a three round contest he could approach it like the Holloway fight and pick up a UD.

The UFC should hire my ass to protect their stars. I found the loophole to turn the odds in Conor's favor.

I read Nate is pushing for it being at 155 so there's no excuses about weight.

Just get in line at the next Q&A. Dana doesn't know how to say no to his fans.
if I was at the Q&A I would get down on my knees to plead Edgar vs McGregor gets done.

Based on Conor's ego and how much he likes to quote his PPV buys, whoever he fights will be the main event. The UFC would put Conor doing capoeira and river dance for 25 minutes and sell it as the main event..... Conor vs Michael Flatley... 2 million buys.... Sell it

I do wonder if Conor's insistence he could fight at 170 was down to him "handling" Gunni (no idea if he actually does)

It hasn't been derailed but there's a couple wheels off the track. You can't get choked out by a guy that was smoking weed and drinking tequila 11 days prior to the fight, without some impact to your credibility.

If its not a main event, it might as well not be there, they'd hype it up so much if they booked it that everything after would be shortchanged.

connor vs gordon ramsey. gordon takes him down in round 2 and hammerfists him like a raw salmon to bolivia!

See what his next card sells, after 200 because 200 would sell without him.

Actually, compare 200 to 100, and see what Mac's next card sells after that. Credibility doesn't equal hype.

i think the more important question is when does he vacate the title.what is the point of holding up an entire division so nate and conor can fight twice in a row? defend the belt or surrender it.hell create an interim belt even to keep the division moving forewards

fucking UFC in a nutshell here. all they care about is numbers and money. who will draw the biggest profit. and right now they are praying that connor can defeat nate and become thier cash cow once again. its the only reason this fight is happening. they should have connor vs frankie and nate vs a top end 155er or an exciting 170er (just for shits and giggles)

put them both on the same card (ufc 200) but not a rematch. if we are talking rematches put the count vs silva 2. that fight was glorious amirite @teamquestnorth
