According to Renzo Gracie, we can mark it down: Georges St-Pierre is coming back to the UFC.

Speaking with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Gracie indicatedthe former UFC welterweight champion will be back inside the cage sooner than later.

"He's [St-Pierre is] coming back for sure," Gracie said. "That boy, the best thing he does in life is fighting. Look for how long he's been a champion. He overcame so many obstacles. Many people don't know Georges would come from Canada, leave at 4, 4:30 in the morning, come to New York by bus, train the whole day and leave at night – this two, sometimes three times a week.

"A champion is not just born. He's forged into it. And Georges has all the tools to become champion again, and for sure, he's now 100 percent healthy. I saw him, he's in unbelievable shape, and for sure he will be announcing soon to be back in the game."

He's just waiting for Conor to beat Nate or RDA. If Conor beats either of them, expect GSP-Conor to be signed ASAP.

In my opinion, GSP could still be the champ at 170. He could come back for another 3-4 years and cement his place as the best ever. He could also make more money, now that UFC seems to spend more on its stars (Think Ronda and Conor).

The timing is perfect. The UFC is bigger than ever, and the champ at 170 is very beatable. He's actually a great matchup for GSP. If he doesn't want the belt and just wants to fight at money-weight, there's a ton of interesting matchups. Maybe the long rumored Anderson Silva superfight. If he's gotten bigger, maybe he'll try to get the gold at 185.

There's plenty of options and money for him. Plus, the sport could use the excitement he would generate with a comeback. The UFC hype machine could get behind a proven star instead of untested and loudmouth personalities.

GSP coming back moves my needle. I'd watch it.

Exactly. He was ring side for Conor vs Nate. I believe, had Conor of won, GSP would have gotten into the cage to challenge Conor. Something like "I'am not impressed with your performance". Or something like that.

Flavor of the week as in, the guy who's making 8 figure checks? Yeah. I'm sure GSP doesn't want any of that. Nobody does! It's about fighting for legacy and keeping the historians and vanguards of MMA justice happy.

he is the flavour of the week. when he gets whooped again by Diaz or RDA or Frankie (all of which would steamroll him), where does he go from there? still making millions of dollars on a 3 fight losing streak?

doubt it. but I wouldnt put that sort of intelligence past his fans or the UFC. I HIGHLY doubt anyone buys his PPV's after he losses again. and rightfully so.

lol at the GOAT waiting for the flavour of the week.
GSP doesn't care about that, you're 100% right! But those jack asses who are promoting the fight want him to challenge Conor after a big win. It's bullshit.

I also doubt he would fight anywhere else due to lax drug testing. GSP in Rizin? Not a chance in hell. I still don't think he'll come back but it's now or never. Hope i'm wrong!

Fans buy into mythology. Once it's built up, it's very hard to tear down. It takes more than a couple of losses to do that. The entire history of PPV combat sports has shown this over and over.

You seem to think that wins = PPV buys, and that losses instantly annihilate them. That's not how it works. The wins help, but only to a point. Ask Aldo, or John Fitch. This is the circus we're watching, not an orderly, well-formed sport.

I realize this. but if you bought into the hype, and the hype is FAR from delivering then its not hard to see people not throwing down their money, again, for a blowhard toolkit and his Irish babydoll.

I see McGregor fans as trendy losers who have no real clue about the fight game. and I am not far off given the odds going into the Diaz fight and the outof control hype he gets. and for what? for barely beating a guy who was tooling him and a one punch KO that would probably never be reproduced if he tried doing it everyday for the next 20 years?

I have seen it time and time again, first it was Brock, then it was Chael, then it was Ronda (still a bit of the residual fandom for this goro looking woman), now its Conor.

give it one year and he wont even be an afterthought imo.

Actually this description fits most of the fighters Conor has faced. The "fight game" as the UFC presents it is about selling PPV's---nothing more. I find Conor ridiculous in some ways, but if there's one thing he understands better than the rest of the sport put together it's the "fight game."

He KO'd the guy who was "tooling" him, then KO'd the (widely acknowledged) #1 PFP guy in the sport. Your hate is smoking dope on another planet right now and has passed a fat pipe to you.

One year and out, huh? Care to bet on it?

was Chad out cold? or even close to it? I think not. looks to me like the "company man quick stoppage because thats who we want to win". I am not saying that chad wasnt done, or that he was, all I am saying is that he wasnt KO'd at all.

who had Aldo at the top P4P?????? the UFC? they hype train to make conor look more incredible??

the UFC's P4P list is a joke of the highest order.

Done! Contingent on his ousting NOT being a matter of injury. He can't leave the sport because his body forces him to---that's my only stipulation.

If a retirement-inducing injury or medical issue comes about, the specific cause shouldn't matter---whether it's a training injury, a random accident, or one suffered during a fight. What we're talking about here is whether he'll leave because no one cares to watch him fight anymore. That's the point of the bet.

If he DOES leave because of an injury, bet's a wash. No winner. If he leaves for any other reason, you win.

with the amount of late stoppages we've seen over the years that fight should have kept going. Herb couldn't wait to jump in there. On the other hand, if it was conor curled up, the fight might have kept going. which sucks because i dont want to see a guy take unnecessary damage. This is where we can start to get into the dark conspiracy theories of reffing/promotion

the same casuals who bought the conor ppvs are the same people who become boxing fans when mayweather fights and then go away again until he fights again

This is a pretty bold bet by you---you really think he's out in ONE year?? Sounds wishful.

If we were talking about Sage, then sure. But at the very least you have to think Conor's a top 5 guy at 145, yeah? I mean, you think he's just smoke and mirrors from top to bottom? That's the part I'm having trouble with.

I do not think he is smoke and mirrors from top to bottom. I think his mouth is only good for short term gain and the UFC are going to stuff him down our throats until we are sick of him. he has said he doesnt want to fight very long, and he gets pummeled in his next 3 fights by either Frankie, Diaz and RDA. utterly destroyed. (although I dont know how Aldo would fair if he got a second chance). I dont know where he goes from there. he has trouble making weight at 145 so I dont see him staying there very long, especially since frankie is calling. if he goes to 155 he is dead in the water with the killers in that division.

I thought it was a decent showing against Nate. He landed some good shots.

Ironically, it's his performance against Nate that makes me think he can do okay at 155. He doesn't have the ground game to be champ in that division though. RDA is tough fight.

We'll see though. I happen to think the rematch against Nate is a gimmie. As in, no matter what happens, the fans won't care. They'll buy into him again at 145 if Nate pummels him down. It's a fight with little downside.
