"If it goes to the ground? Oh, that's the wrong guy," Rogan said of Diaz on his podcast. "Nate Diaz is the wrong guy to go to the ground with. Nate Diaz is a legit black belt, a really high-level black belt. I knew Conor had gotten submitted by Joe Duffy. Anybody can get submitted if you get caught, but he got submitted by that Joe Duffy guy just a few years ago. Joe Duffy is a very talented fighter, no doubt about it, but Nate wouldn't have gotten submitted by that same guy. I highly, highly, highly doubt it.

"A guy like Conor, if you've been tapped before by Joe Duffy just a few years ago with an arm triangle ... to get caught like that, you've got a lot to learn and I don't know if you've learned it all in time. You've got to be obsessed with jiu jitsu."

LINK: Rogan on McGregor's lack of BJJ: Nate probably wouldn't have been tapped by Joe Duffy

Not sure why there is so much focus on Conor's ground game when the fight was already done by the time it went there.

As Nate Diaz himself has said, the problem wasn't so much the jiu jitsu, the problem was that he got fucked up on the feet, was gassed, was finished mentally and went for a panic takedown out of desperation. Then once on the ground after eating a couple of punches, he just gave up his neck. Maybe his ground technique is crap, but it wouldn't have made a difference.

The Joe Duffy fight was 5 years ago and I'm not sure it is instructive at all either. McGregor certainly is no wizard on the ground, but TD defense and defensive JJ seem to be what he needs to continue to work on, not becoming the next Rickson.

Well said. Not everyone out there has to Max out their bjj attributes to be successful. Rory would lose to Maia in a grappling tourney but in MMA we saw how it goes.

McG has some great tools and I feel to try and play catch might be the wrong path. I like the idea of focus more on the TDD and defensive Jj as to said, get a game plan like Crocop, Liddel, JDS Holm...

I see Rogan's argument when u apply MMath, but he agreed with E Bravo when Eddie said Conor's jujitsu is fine.

This is that thing I've never understood. You take Holly, for example. Pro boxer, great movement and strength, good instincts. If she gets rocked, she's gonna go to a default stand up game that is better than most people's nonrocked stand up, right? So why in the world would she work any boxing? Why not just wrestle and work your ground game?

Same with Conor. His stand up is his power play. So why in the world would he work any stand up? Any at all? I don't get it.

If your strengths are strong enough to be competent, you shouldn't practice them any longer. Work on your weaknesses. Start and end every day with your back on the mat. Earn your way to standing up, then get back down there.

Rogan is right in this context. Conor's fighting a guy that he outstruck yet he STILL went down first, and it took him into the BJJ game. And here he is fighting Nate again? You gotta be kidding me. Diaz will probably stop McGregor again.

So wrong on so many levels.
Both from experience and from examples:
How many times have you seen "experts" at one thing stop training something to focus on something new and get dominated at their expertise? Often.
I forget who said "I stopped training my wrestling so I can work on my stand up". Then proceeded to get out wrestled.

Conor needs to get more obsessed about Jiu Jitsu and less obsessed about ducking Edgar.
Ronda needs to get more obsessed with fighting and less obsessed with the soon to be cancelled LOADhouse , sorry meant roadhouse

i get what you're saying but it may be that people want to keep having an advantage where they have one already, its harder for Holy to become a competent JJ practitioner, and neglecting her boxing (what got her to the dance) wouldn't be the best way IMO (if she had a lot of free time it would). But I'd be embarrassed of losing a standup battle with someone way less experienced.

I don't think Conor out struck him though, if he was he wouldn't of gone for the take down. The fight was basically over at that point,, I'm not surprised mother fuckers.

"Well the thing is, [in] the striking department, Nate is a lot better when he's in good shape and not injured or anything," said Perez. "So when it comes to the night of the fight, McGregor's going to be shocked."

Morning Report: Coach says Nate Diaz's boxing will 'shock' Conor McGregor and 'make him look silly'

Rogan basically pulled a KenFlo ripping word for word what Eddie Bravo said about Holly Holm on the JRE after UFC 196.

In that case, I assume you just accept it when an expert in one area gets beaten by their weakness. That's fine, if so, but that promotes stagnation.

I think you should always try to grow.. You're right in a few ways, however I don't think that completely neglecting the striking is the answer, Conor's striking is polished, I guarantee you it would not be as polished if he didn't spend that much time on it. Conversely, people are saying is jj needs a lot of work..how much work will that be til he becomes competent enough to hang with guys like Nate who've been doing it since they were 16 and still do it at a really high level daily? neglecting one is never the answer

your strengths aren't competent when u stop working them. u lose it little by little.... strengths stay as strengths because u keep strengthening them, and if u stop, other fighters will improve and catch up.

diaz shouldn't stop training jiu jitsu. gotta keep a balance and improve everywhere, as much as possible
