99% of the UFC's posters are two dudes staring at each other. Pride made posters that actually made you think a bit when you saw them. There are some exceptions but there is a reason why people complain so much about their posters. Most diehard fight fans love most of Prides. I tend to be one of those of those people.

I love Pride's posters. I love Pride in itself. I hate the fact that MMA fans are such jaded hipsters all the time, though. Pride was cool. I think people remember it a little better than it was, though.. and being anti-anything UFC is a trend that gets in the way of people actually enjoying things sometimes. Look at this thread for example. The UFC gets shit on for always being generic (which they deserve, because most of their posters are terrible) but then they put out something with a little more thought and the thread turns into an endless stream of Pride posters. Pride was cool. We get it. It's over though, and it is never coming back the way it was. The UFC is not Pride, and that is a good thing in a lot of ways, including the fighters' paychecks. I don't like a lot of what the UFC does, but I am glad that I am not as bitter as a lot of you guys, though.

That's one of the most iconic posters of the nineties, designed by Sagmeister & Walsh, a very well known and respected design firm in New York. So yes, the odds are that whoever designed those two UFC 200 posters was probably aware of that "random Lou reed poster" from 1996.

You're missing my point, but that could be my fault. Sagmeister's motivations don't matter to me. It is just an interesting assumption to make in my opinion. Nothing more.
