Miesha Tate will defend her bantamweight championship July 9 against Amanda Nunesat UFC 200.

Ariel Helwani first reported the news, and it was later confirmed on Wednesday's episode of UFC Tonight.

I dont like it. This fills up one of the Championship fights that they were talking about. Less likely now we see a 170 mens championship fight.

So instead of seeing Robbie Lawler in another badass epic war we get to see Tate vs Nunes.

This. No way she lasts 5 rounds when she struggles in 3. Tate is very durable. She'll survive the early onslaught and then put Nunes away.

Wow, Meisha has to survive the first 2 rounds then it will be smooth sailing from there, however all it takes is one or two solid shots from Nunes and it's all over.

My guess is the winner of Cat/Pena will fight Holm at November/December card, when Meisha(or Nunes) faces Ronda. Lots of good fights shaping up

That's too strong of a statement, Meisha has been rocked by McMann (could've been scored a 10-8 round) and got finished by Cat. So saying she'll survive is like guaranteeing it, and Nunes hits harder than Cat or McMann.

If Meisha struggles with takedowns, it could mean it will be a distance game, and if there is minimal to heavy grappling Nunes cardio should be good enough for 2 or 3 rounds. If Meisha can get some takedowns than Meisha will tire Nunes out in maybe 1.5 rounds. It's a very dangerous fight I wouldn't count out Nunes out, she's a very live dog, but Meisha should be the favorite.

Pretty decent match up, but UFC 200? Dana and Lorenzo hate paying Holm all that money (by UFC standards), which is why they lashed out at her manager after UFC 196. She deserved a rematch, no question, but it isn't always about that.
