Watching a new dvd and the player seems to hang up at a certain spot on the disc. It is also a little noisy in general. It's a little under 3 years old. Is it normal for them to be going into the trash after only a few years?

I don't really buy new ones,I only blu ray what isn't available on net flix or amazon,sometimes I have to play blu rays from redbox.
You're apparently not very aware of everything missing from Netflix.
I don't stream illegally too much risk being caught. Only netflix,amazon,redbox and 6 dollar blu ray bin from wal-mart/target.
I think it might just be the disc, which sucks being as it's brand new.
can you exchange it for another one?

if you have a DVD burner you can just copy the original disc and burn another one on a new disc.
Yeah, see my dvd player is 12 plus years old, but my first Blu-ray player is already struggling. Fucking technology, lol.
It seems to be working on our old DVD player, so we're going with that. A little choppy, but seems to power through it.
I have a limited supply, but I like to have blu-rays of really cool movies, like Avengers, The Dark Knight, Avatar, Promethius, and some others, usually audii/visually striking, mainly superhero movies I want to watch in a theatre setting.
I have a large supply, lol. There was a time (not that long ago) where your favorite movies were available on DVD and nowhere else. So you bought the stuff you liked, and storing DVD/Blu-ray discs isn't so there isn't really a good reason to dump them.
It's true, they're worthless except primarily to the owner.
When the cable goes out and nukes are dropping, I'm gonna be glad I can pop in Plains, Trains, and Automobiles, when every other idiot is scrambling to get a good signal.
