The rumours are true! It's been confirmed that Ben Affleck will in fact direct a solo Batman film.
For those who haven't seen Batman v Suprman: Dawn of Justice yet, "Batfleck" was easily the best part of the movie. As far as I'm concerned his Batman is right up there with, and could possibly overtake, Michael Keaton as the best portrayal of Dark Knight.
Ben Affleck's acting career has had some spotry moments but you can't deny the guy knows how to make a movie. So for me this confirmation is incredibly exciting!

You didn't mind the whole "Batman feels ok about killing" aspects of Batman V Superman? Not Ben's fault, but that shit bothered me

The most bothersome was that he used a gun. I figure no matter how dark he gets he would never use the weapon that killed his parents.
The whole killing thing didn't bother me because this is a Batman who's been doing his thing for like 20 years and hasn't seen much change. Robin is apparently dead. This is a Batman who's desperate.

Still not ok- that would just mean that they broke him, and I prefer my Batman to have a will thats unbreakable.

Even the Batman they based this off (from the Dark Knight Returns) had this to say about guns-

And couldn't bring himself to kill the Joker

I agree but I look at the movies more like alternate versions.
I won't hold my breath waiting for Warner Bros to get my beloved DC characters right and that's fine by me. I love comics and that's where I'll always turn for stories I want to enjoy.
It may be a different take on Batman but I thought Affleck nailed it. I can't wait to see what he does outside of Snyder's creative reach.

Yeah, his own movie should be great

Batman was easily fooled and manipulated. And he was a psychopathic murderer who branded criminals.

He was pretty much the anti Batman.

But with a better writer, I'm willing to give it a shot. Not a huge fan of Affleck in the role but he was pretty handicapped with that shit script.

Agreed. I'll say it again. He was the Punisher in a Batsuit.

Actually, looking back in the original review thread, I did quote you and agreed with you. Forgot it was you I quoted!! At least we are both on the same page.....I'm not looking forward to a solo movie that he is not only acting in , but involved in "directing" as well???!!

This could be brilliant, now the studio will want these things imo if B Vs S was anything to go by:

Continuity
Time jumps
Cameos for JL
Fan favourite Batman stories so :
Killing Joke,Death in the family,Dark victory /Long Halloween etc they will take elements and make up them fit in a horrid collage.
More guns, more death, more cruelty= less of the real Batman.

Now if they have learned anything from B vs S it's that they made a mistake with Batman. They (studio) can learn from it and try and redeem their version of the character or they can be stubborn twats and be everything anti marvel and fuck up again.

If they had any sense they'd let Ben try and rescue the franchise and just let him do his own thing and bring in a writing staff without stupid ideas.

I wonder what BvS would have looked like had Affleck not brought Chris Terrio with him.

I wonder what BvS would have looked like if Nolan and his wife hadn't set themselves merely on the sidelines, and continued directing. Along with Bale, as an older Batman. It's a shame that this film didn't live up to less than one half of just one of Nolan's Batman films.

Bale was the worst Batman/Bruce Wayne imo. Nolan should have pulled him aside during Batman Begins and told him he can't pull of the gravily voice. They also should have changed Batman's cowl so it didn't give Bale constant ducklips.

I hated the gravely voice as well. The suit and the cowl obviously were things which made things realistic for that version of Batman incorporated into "our world", rather than the comic book world. (Body armor/ over mobility) It was intentionally meant to be different and more gritty and basic so that viewers could believe that a man with enough drive, heart, determination, and a bit of psychosis derived from trauma, could become such a formidable figure.

Bale's Bruce Wayne and Batman will go down as the best. It already is. Unless it is topped by a newer, more imaginative figure for the future generations.

But that certainly will not be Ben Affleck. LOL.

The rest of the suit was fine. It's usually depicted as body armour in the comics. My problem was specifically with the cowl.
That's my major issue with the Nolan trilogy Batman , just like other superheroes, is a fantasy. It's why I read comic books. If I wanted real life I'd read true crime stories. Batman is already different and gritty.
That's why I'll never enjoy the Nolan trilogy. Bale was a big part of it but I don't want "realistic" Batman. I know Dark Knight specifically will always be held in high regard as a great Batman movie but #notmybatman.
Have you seen the documentary Superheroes? That's real life superheroism. They only thing they lack from Bruce Wayne is training and money.

Are you talking about the short lived series by Stan Lee? That was really great. If not what you are referencing, look that up.

My reference to Nolan/Bale's Batman was that it was semi-realistic, which makes it a lot more enjoyable for the casual viewer, but also the true comic book fiends. I love all portrayals, as I stated before. Michael Keaton was fantastic for the comic book world version for it's time. The beauty of it, is that we get to look forward to many more portrayals in the future. I just don't like Affleck's version at all. It's just not.....Bruce Wayne nor Batman.....

The only credit I will give to Affleck's Batman is the suit. The basic suit worn by him in B vs.S was a more mobile high tensile strength "cloth" suit which allowed mobility. Then, the fact that he would don other suits for various purposes of battle scenarios, ala vs. Superman and the armored suit. But I digress in my geekiness....LOL.

The voice scrambler in the suit was a smart move. I liked this version of the Batmobile too.
