I started this at middleasy.com but after I got fired from there it never got completed

PART I

Frankfurt, Republic of Germany 15th January 2014.



The Lufthansa A380 touches down upon the tarmac; the blood is fizzing in my veins with excitement, although that may be a mild case of deep veinthrombosis.

I am here in Germany courtesy of Eberspächer - Abgastechnik, Fahrzeugheizungen, Fahrzeugelektronik world leader in muffler technology





However one aspect of this trip I am looking forward to most is a visit to the Bavarian headquarters of multinational sports apparel manufacturer Adidas. adidas offizielle Website | adidas.de



I have long been a admirer & indeed a wearer of their iconic three striped training suits, comfortable both at home, the city & training for sports activities. Having owned at least a dozen of these suits I am looking forward to seeing the new innovations that are taking place and also what changes are appearing in the other Adidas owned brands such as Reebok the new prime apparel sponsor & supplier for American sports fighting organisation the Ultimate Fighting Championship or as it is more commonly referred to the uFc.





Frankfurt largest & busiest airport in continental Europe, I am here for three hours enjoying some traditional German foods such as the Pretzel and Beer.







Quite Literally the best Pretzel I have ever tasted on German soil. After four of the Beer Stein, the traditional Bavarian glass is called I am on my connecting flight toHerzogenaurach where I am to tour a Eberspaecher muffler factory and hopefully also visit the Adidas HQ while there.



Herzogenaurach is a small sleepy out of the way town rather than city, surprisingly even smaller & sleepier than the impressions I was given by my manager, this very unglamorous old worldly town is the headquarters of a the leading European Sports Apparel company with a market cap of $22.76 Billion dollars (Adidas on the Forbes World's Most Valuable Brands List ) the 70th most valuable brand in the entire world ?











First impressions are however usually very non-misleading, such is the case here.

Part II : superCalo Germany Travel


Herzogenaurach Baveria 16th January 2014.


I am staying at the 3 star Herzlich Willkommen im Gästehaus Herzogenaurach

This is a delightful bed and breakfast type hotel. The eggs at breakfast are done two ways, scrambled & boiled, although I was disappointed in that they seemed to have been boiled overly long and the yolk rather than being soft and silky was hard with a rubbery texture.

I was still riding high on my first taste of German breakfast so did not complain to management although I did put in a negative review to tripadvisor.com regarding this oversight by the chefs.




The room was comfortable and the décor was appealing in a middle of the road hotel kind of way, checking under the bed I found no great masses of dust balls or similar which was disappointing in some respects as I have often used this to obtain discounts on room price.


Deciding to engage in Bavarian culture my next stop was a Beer Hall or “Bierhalle” , however there was some confusion over this and I some how ended up at a Biergarten which is like a Beer Hall or Bierhalle but in a garden, however for the most part I stayed in the indoor hall part of the premises.





Feeling hungry after the disappointing hard boiled eggs I tried the pork knuckle which along with pretzels is one of the recommended foods to eat when drinking large quanties of beir





Due to the language barrier I am still uncertain if there is a actual knuckle on a pork, I suspect the knuckle is actually off a beef animal due to its size.

The bier was once again suburb and I tried several different varieties in the large stein glasses in friendly competition with some of the locals as to who could drink fastest and the most. While I came last in terms of outcome I feel I came first in terms of gaining respect, from my fellow drinkers at least, not the establishment because of an unfortunate incident or perhaps two incidents in the lavatories, espcially so after introducing these Germans to their national drink Jägermeister.











Now sufficiently in touch with the local culture it was time to attempt a visit to the world headquarters of Adidas and do some investigative reporting on behalf ofGlorious Combat Sport, Street Fighting and MMA News in regards the Reebok uFc contract, agreement and what it entailed.

Part III : superCalo Germany Travel


My new German frens convinced me to go to nearby Lederhosen shop, saying I must dress appropriately for corporate meetings, in my current state I did not have the wisdom to disagree or be suspicious when I walked out of the shop wearing a leather pair of overall hiking shorts.





I am not prepared to show myself in the outfit in the interests of viewer discretion but needless to say it was something like this but with some regurgitated pork knuckle & Jägermeister stains over the crotch area. Another issue was I wasnot really paying attention to price and apparently“Premium first growth organic “ (as per google translate) leather is very very expensive & my company credit card was thus maxed out. This later created some issues with my employer which lead to me searching for another job – anything will be considered, contact me via www.twitter.com/supercalo


Note : when in Germany Lederhosen, finest premium leather or otherwise is not accepted corporate or normal day to day weather regardless of what locals tell you.

Another slight problem arose after my taxi journey to the Adidas head office at # 1 Adi Dassler Street, I had no money to pay the fare.

For once fortune shined on me as being a semi rural area there was a large amount of bush & black forest like forest to escape into, the taxi driver being at least seventy years old had no chance of catching up with me, although the epic run through the forest , sweating out sauerkraut in my scrambles through the undergrowth did create with the premium leather lederhosen some chaffing which is still uncomfortable right now.

But at last thinking I was in the clear I made myself through the forest towards my date with reebock Adidas & middleeasy.com roving reporter assignment
