Conor McGregor's coach, John Kavanagh, believes it's pointless to keep McGregor off UFC 200 because the featherweight champion wants to focus on his training camp rather than promotion for the event.

What a ride the mixed martial arts community has been on for the past week.

As we all know by now, it all started with UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor mysteriously announcing his sudden retirement via Twitter, and then UFC officials pulling the Irishman from his UFC 200 rematch against Nate Diaz. When the removal of McGregor was announced, UFC president Dana White claimed McGregor was pulled from his UFC 200 headlining slot because he refused to fly to Las Vegas to perform promotional work leading up to the mega-card.

That got some fans thinking about possible other reasons…

This is an organization who fires anyone who doesn't toe the line, especially if they gain any individual popularity. See the cutman Stitch Duran, among others.

If you make the UFC a lot of money, they will give you more leeway..... to a point.

I listened to his interview (much to the joy of tmmac members) and he kind of has a point about why the did what they did. I think with the right communication they could have solved this issue prior to it getting to a no show......to be fair to the FUC they did know when Conor was in Portugal and had time to think this through and come up with a plan. On the one hand, it messes with an important training camp, on the other Conor's appearance at this PC was important as you are trying to build up what you want to be a huge ppv/landmark event and this is one event.....fuck all the other Tv appearances with Punch and Judy but still he should have been there or worked it out prior....people pay a lot not just to see him fight but for his mouth at press conferences

Ugh shut the fuck up already kavanagh. He is off the card drop it already. The drama in MMA is like a reality show. No other sport has this shit going on daily like Mma does.

All he has is his mouth, it's what made him famous. His fighting ability is second.

This whole thing is covered in bullshit all over from every angle. The fight should have never been booked and this is just a way for them all (SBG and UFC) to get out of it while trying not to look bad.

Also, If GSP isn't fighting the Spider on UFC 200 I don't give a shit about that card anyway. "oooooh we've got Cain vs Travis Browne and Meisha fighting someone and a couple other fights with people who will fight..." Bah to all that.

Bellator must be a dream for you lately.

Fuck all that shit, the two greatest mixed martial artists that the UFC has ever had the honour of having fight under their banner, testing their skills against one another in an event that is meant to pay tribute to those who got the organization (and the fighters) to where they are as well as showcasing distinctly different and contrasting fighting styles being matched up against one another in a match built on respect and pride (what MMA is supposed to be all about) is much more interesting to me than a guy playing a character who talks shit to gain interest or mediocre talents who take 'selfies' all fucking day of their fake tits... This shit is sliding in WWF (or E or whatever it is) territory very quickly.

No disrespect to Frankie or José, they're both cool in my books.

Conor losing to Nate cost him much more than the fight. It also cost him his bargaining leverage. Running his mouth too much this time will cost him millions. He needs to start being a weee bit more humble now.

I see where you are coming from and I would personally take GSP/Silva (even now) over Conor/Diaz.
However, I'd rather see AN ACTUAL TITLE FIGHT headlining a card.
Old school, I know.

It's obvious that Conor thinks the only reason he lost to Nate was because of all his media obligations. Play the game or shut up. No one would give half a shit about Conor and he wouldn't be getting paid the way he is if he weren't doing all the press conferences. He should've felt extremely fortunate that he was even getting the rematch with Nate in the first place. Sit him on the shelf for 6 months, create the interim title for Aldo Frankie, then see if he still doesn't want to do any press conferences.

If your boss says that you must attend an important meeting and you deliberately miss it, what do you think would happen to you? You'd probably be fired. Don't like it Conor? There's the door.

This wasn't my first choice but the way the card is looking, 200 need this fight. Other fights are cool but I'd be lying if I was more interested in seeing Edgar/Aldo 2 or tate/nunes over conor/diaz. Dana/UFC is so fukin inconsistent with their way of calling the shots who cares if they give in this one time? Kavanah is annoying but I agree with him. This has nothing to do with making it fair but Dana's stupid ego.

The card still has plenty of great fights to watch.
Gegard Mousasi vs. Derek Brunson
Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Lauzon
Takanori Gomi vs. Jim Miller

And the ones you mentioned

yea sure those are some good fights but it doesn't feel like a 200. Women's championship and Edgar/Aldo2 doesn't really stir up my interest at all. I wouldn't even care to order the Pay Per View if those were the main events. I'll probably watch but this is supposed to be 200. They need one big draw fight like Diaz/Conor or bring in names like GSP vs whoever. My feelings are still 198 > 200.

just comparing some of the fights of UFC 100 to 200. Heavyweight Championship, Welterweight Championship, TUF Coaches matching up. and there was no.2 welterweight at the time (Fitch) and Akiyama's debut. also in the undercard it featured Jon Jones, Coleman, Tj Grant, Jim Miller, Stun Gun, Tom Lawlor.

now if you look at the 200 card as of now... it has Interim Title which Edgar or Aldo supposed fight for the actual Title, Women's Championship that I have very small interest of, and those 3 fights which are kind of irrelevant to the circumstances of their respective division. I Do not think these are 200 caliber type of fights. but i kind of like Cain vs Browne on the card though
