Daniel Cormier recently said he plans to "complete the journey" at UFC 200. Will the UFC light heavyweight champion retire after his upcoming rematch with Jon Jones?

UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier takes on bitter rival and interim champ Jon Jones in the main event of UFC 200. Cormier and Jones' rivalry dates back to late 2014, when they brawled at a media event prior to their scheduled bout at UFC 178. Bones, who was the titleholder at the time, was forced out of the contest with an injury and their fight was re-booked for January 2015's UFC 182. Jones defeated DC by decision, but was stripped of his title later that year due to legal troubles. Cormier went on to capture UFC gold with a submission win over Anthony Johnson last May.

Cormier and Jones were set to…

If he loses he has nowhere to go but hoping for Jones to move to HW or going there himself and crashing Cain's party. If he wins, there's no better way to go out, though they'd be pulling out that McGregor money for a trilogy.

He will probably retire after he loses this fight. He has a lot of miles on his body and he has a pretty good gig as an analyst. I think he announces his retirement, but wouldn't be surprised to see him in a super fight down the road. At his age he may be ready to relax a bit, eat some fried chicken, do some coaching, make some money as an analyst, and not have to continue to punish his body on a daily basis.

The title is a pretty big stretch to insinuate DC is retiring. "Complete the journey" could mean many things, mainly and most simply DC is probably referring to beating Jones means that DC IS the Champion, undisputed with no questions attached. Therefore DC has completed his goal and his journey to become the UFC LHW Champion. Occam's Razor = the simplest explanation is usually the correct one.

Hope he wins and then whatever. Commentating is there for him when he's done. He's great at it.

I didn't like his commentary the other night during the fights, although he is funny as part of the FOX team and brings a bearable amount of american cheese to the proceedings. He will probably get better, but I kept noticing him struggling with his sentences and stuff.

If DC wins he should retire for his legacy cause there's no way he would win the trilogy. Jones would go into ultra super perfectionist mode and have a one year training camp for the third fight. Unless DC cares about money more

I always think back to Hallman vs Hughes when discussing a lesser fighter beating a greater fighter multiple times.

Cormier has become the quintessential company man for the UFC since becoming light heavyweight champ by default, and so I don't believe it's as simple as DC retiring after a win over Jones. He'll be summoned to Las Vegas and persuaded with Station Casino vouchers of the highest order to complete the trilogy with Bones.

He has done a lot in his seven year career, some fighters fight a decade and never see a title shot.
