Usually a bit of an afterthought, the Donald needs an experienced, trusted running mate for VP. One that could serve as a concession for GOP voters who aren't in love with Trump. People need to believe that Donald isn't going to be a crazy person running amok in the White House.

This might be one of the most important VP selections in the history of this great nation.

Trump said he wants a previously elected politician.

I suspect Rubio is high on the list despite Rubio claiming he doesn't want to be VP.

Why should he start to pander to the GOP establishment now? He should pick his daughter to be his VP.

Kasich or Rubio are likely the most optimal choices.

Picking Christie would make for the most entertaining duo. Hillary can't handle all that NY/NJ bravado.

That's crazy to me. I understand he needs to pick an insider to balance things out, but how could he choose Rubio as his VP after a performance like that? Dude was a sweaty, clammy mess. Kasich brought nothing to the table either. I'll be so disappointed if he chooses one of those two clowns.

Forget their performances in the Republican primaries. Both Rubio and Kasich poll better against Hillary than Trump does. I've read a presidential candidate on average gets a 2% boost in the polls of the state his Vice President resides in. Pretty significant % in must win swing states of Ohio and Florida.

If you can't beat him, join him.

Scott Brown looks like a guy who would be cast to play a Vice President in a movie. Trump is already a northeastern moderate Republican. Why add another one to the ticket?

Kasich has the support in Ohio and pretty good appeal to independents/ conservative democrats.

Rubio has decent support in Florida, strong ties to hispanic community, and the GOP loves him.

But to go back and pick up one of those guys that he already crushed is going to diminish his entire campaign platform – hope and change we can believe in. Most interesting VP pick ever, but I have the feeling it's going to be super underwhelming.

No way. Not to me or many others.

It signals Trump being a true executive. Trumps cabinet picks are as interesting as anything to me.

Good pics along with a pragmatic platform mean the non-politician is an excellent executive.

There is no good and putting a Chris Christie next to him. He knows that and so does the electorate. A more established vp that can talk to Congress helps Trump get policies passed and also gives him advice in an arena he has no experience.

This cabinet is going to be way more interesting than many years prior.

But after all we've seen for the past 10 months, you'd consider Kasich or Rubio to be a good pick for that spot?!? VP of all positions?? Surely there are many more qualified for the job than those two.

Plus, consider who gets put in charge if Trump dies in office. An insider VP makes for a safer vote, but is a bit counter-intuitive to shaking up the system.
