The issue there is that NXT will have a gaping hole if Finn bails right now, and you can't have him doing double duty like they do when they're trying to find a guy to fill a new role.
That's a really restricting view on what is supposed to be a developmental league though. As much as it hurts them they can't prioritize NXT over the main show if it makes sense in need to bring someone up. There's balance to be achieved but NXT is not driving their revenue.
It really cuts off their nose if they have to worry about pleasing two crowds all the time.
Well, when NXT was developed it was publicly stated that it was not just a developmental but also its own brand. It's worth mentioning that they get more revenue from me personally because of NXT than they do the main roster. I'm also not saying Finn shouldn't be called up, I'm just saying they'll likely wait until they can drop Nakamura into the main event picture before they have Finn split. They can't have Finn running the promotions dominant stable while feuding over the NXT title.
That's fine, they can call it what they like officially but if they had to let one of the two go for financial reasons (god forbid) they wouldn't stick with NXT and kill the main roster.
It is what it is, a great product that unfortunately still feeds the main roster and as much as hardcores and older fans feed more revenue to NXT, it's a drop in the bucket compared to what the main roster still drives.
