Bellator light heavyweight Phil Davis not only earned a shot at champ Liam McGeary, but the highest disclosed payday at this past Saturday’s Bellator 154 event.

Davis (16-3 MMA, 3-0 BMMA) took home $60,000 for his unanimous-decision win over Muhammed Lawal (19-5 MMA, 8-4 BMMA), who earned $30,000, in the Spike-televised headliner of this past Saturday’s event at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif.

Before we say "sad" let's see the sponsor income.

Remember, some fighters said they made 6 figures per fight in sponsorship before Reebok.

It's sad for Bellator and UFC fighters. Davis earned exactly the same amount he earned for his last UFC win. This shows how important fighter sponsorships are that guys are willing to leave the UFC for no additional pay in order to retain them.

That was in the UFC. Bellator has a decent amount of viewers, but I sincerely doubt they are getting UFC-level sponsorship money.

I'm not entirely how correct that is. I have way too much spare time at the moment and discovered that Phil only had his pay disclosed on 3 occasions in his entire UFC career.
UFC 109 ($5k +$5k) in his debut in 2010.
UFC 117 in 2010 ($9k + $9k).
UFC on Fox 4 in 2012 vs Wagner Prado coming off his loss to Rashad ($30k + $30k).

Everything else available are just estimates based on the last disclosed rate.

I'm not saying that it was much more than that by the time he left but he did have 6 more fights after that last reported salary. It's possible that it was actually less as he went 4-2 over that period and had only had the one loss to Rashad leading up to the $30k figure.

I just like knowing solid numbers and figured that I would share my boredom with everyone else.
 
seeing these numbers makes you really not want to be an mma fighter.

I don't know nothing about potential sponsor pay but I doubt that these no name guys getting 1K to lose brain cells are getting big sponsorship money.
 
The idea that fighters are paid more in Bellator is a fairy tale. I am not saying this to justify the UFC's unethical treatment of fighters re: disclosed salaries and sponsorship pay, but I think the idea that Bellator takes better financial care of their fighters was never going to be true. It just can't be, in my opinion. The sponsorship thing is big for certain fighters, but means substantially less for the guys making $1,000.00. This is a sport-wide issue, not specifically a Zuffa issue.
 
$30,000 + $30,000 for Davis and Mo is sad, regardless of sponsors. Bellator should pay more out of their pocket.

The rest of the card is inexcusable:
One fighter making $4,000 + $4,000.
One fighter making $3,000 + $3,000.
One fighter making $2,000 + $2,000.
Three fighters making $2,500 + $2,500.
Four fighters making $1,500 + $1,500.
Eight fighters making $1,000 + $1,000.

Yeah I hope there's some non-disclosed money for those guys and gals. No fighter in the big leagues (UFC, Bellator, WSOF, ONE) should be making less than $10k per fight IMO. That's just absolutely brutal.

Awad has 10 fights in Bellator this time around and is on a 12 and 12 contract. Even the TUF contracts aren't that brutal.
 
I think a big part of why nobody can compete and why we really should respect the ufc is they sank millions upon millions into it before they saw any sort of profit or growth. Bellators backers have way more money to invest in their product then the fertitta's ever did.
