A friend of mine just came across a domain named www.conormcgrefor.net doing a search through Bing looking for merch. There is a landing page with his photo and a for sale message that says $15,000.00. Would this domain be worth this much and if I was to buy it how could I monetize the domain?

If Conor Mcgregor is the biggest star in MMA like Lebron James is in Basketball, do you think www.lebronjames.net is worth that much and would you think Nike would pay some squater for the rights to that domain.

Thoughts??

no offense (or offence), but he better win against Aldo or..............this could be a big investment with a bit of a risk attached to it.

Agree. Like everything in life...just gotta weigh the risk & reward. I don't know enough about potential domain name revenue to offer advice one way or the other, unfortunately.

Nike won't pay you. Squatters can be removed legally if you dont do something with the site.

.net domain's are fading fast.

If you turned it into a fan site, you'd do okay....but not at 15000

Pass.
Find the next conor 2 years sooner ;)

Splinty - you sound like you are very knowledgeable about this type of stuff. What do you think would be the very highest dollar amount you would pay for it?

Have you visited lebronjames.net? If your end game is to sell the domain to the highest bidder, don't hold your breath. More and more top-level domains are being released over time and, as Splinty said, .net is pretty much worthless. Might as well just pickup connormcgregor.info and save a few grand.

The only way you make money with this is if McGregor's people are willing to pay you to stop squatting on his name, otherwise you're hoping to cash in on fans who are willing to come to a site based on being fans. A .NET is simply an alternate to .COM nowadays, rarely is it used for a home URL. A simple question for you is how many MMA sites named for a fighter are doing well? BJPenn.com is the only one I know but it's run the fighter himself.

You can't compare MMA fighters to guys like Lebron, it just isn't any comparison - they aren't that popular.

Highest dollar?
500 bucks and have another 1000+ ready to go to host a conor news site
Then I'd pray to god he beats aldo because anything else and I'm out 1500.
