Hard to choose just one.

I liked Oleg Taktorov when he jumped on the scene. His rolling knee bars and the crazy scrap with tank. I loved that dude.

Wanderlei because you knew shit was real when he stepped up. I was always amped for his fights.

BJ cuz he had no pretense about anything. He was the epitome of "just scrap" and he was a bad mother fucker.

GSP because his game was so cerebral and technical. Maybe not always stand up screaming exciting but always impressive to watch. He brought a new level of dedication to training and strategy that changed the game.

Diaz cuz 209 wut wut! And that Gomi fight was top 10 best ever.

No man has gotten me more excited for a fight than him. He opened a new era in the UFC with his trash talk imo. He doesn't pull out of fights and while he came up short plenty of times everyone tunes in to watch him.

Michelle Waterson. She is good looking and classy.

Both are former champions your kids can look up to.

Not shit talking, convicted criminal, serial PED abusing blowhards who choked in every big fight.

Good looking, classy fighters is what this sport needs more of. Sage Northcutt is the next fighter on my list I will always get up for because of that.

This is a guy that shouldn't exist. That's all I kept thinking the first time I saw him. He showed up in MMA like some sort of action figure, complete with kung fu grip.....errr kick.
He is a huge JCVD fan, but is like the real life version of every 80's action movie I ever saw. He goes to K-1 and just can't quite beat Hoost.
He comes to MMA. He just can't quite beat Fedor.
But here's the thing...It didn't matter. He had just as much hype and excitement as anyone. Every fight was like watching those videos of a cobra and mongoose fight...maybe they are feeling each other out. But you're always waiting for that strike. But that's just the surface. In reality, he was one of the most exciting counter strikers ever with a world class takedown defense. Hands so fast, legs like Zohan.

2006 OWGP in Pride happens...finally gets his belt! Stone faced Croatian finally shows some real emotion at getting a belt. I might have really enjoyed that moment.

New MMA fans see crocop now. Still bursts of power, but not the reflexes and combos he once had. How good was cro cop? Cro Cop left Pride and it was HUGE. UFC got him for something like 350k per fight + PPV sharing. This isn't all revisionist history by a fan, the UFC saw the talent too and paid huge bucks before Pride was bought out. But without the ring corners, with Fedor showing how to circle away from the kick, and with time setting in, CC couldn't quite meet what he was doing before. So wtf happens?? He goes to the UFC management and is like "yo, can I leave to a competing Japanese organization, get some tune up fights and come back?" What the hell do they do? Tell him its all good. See you soon! and they did see him soon. This is just amazing. This is right in the middle of the UFC suing Randy Couture for breech of contract and all the arguments about exclusive fight rights.

But Cro Cop has always been an exception.

I am a Crocop fanboy.

One of my biggest fantasies is Michelle Waterson knocking someone out with a head kick then telling Joe Rogan in the post fight interview, "Right leg, hospital. Left leg, cemetery."

Honestly right now though it's Igor Vovchanchyn, in my opinion he was the Mike Tyson of MMA. His fighting style was controlled chaos.

For any of the younger members that never got to see his fights please go find some and watch how incredible he was. When he lost to Cro Cop my heart broke a little because you could see that his best years were behind him. His knock out of Francis Bueno ranks second all-time in my opinion behind Baroni's KO over Menne as the best KO I had seen early on.

Anderson Silva, baby.

In his prime he was a ninja who put on show-stopping finishes of some pretty great fighters. Beat world class grapplers, wrestlers and strikers. He came after Fedor and didn't go on a nearly 10 year run so old-timers dismiss him as the GOAT, but his 6-7 years in the UFC were fucking incredible. No 'easy' fights against cans. Plus he's a finisher, something GSP wasn't. He knocked people out and he could finish with strikes or subs. He's the greatest in my eyes, even if he isn't among most fans.
