"There are a lot of rumors out there that I'm getting calls from Conor, asking me to train him; they're not true. He has not called me yet but Mayweather did come by my gym last week and he asked me to take that job if it's offered to me. He told me the fight is gonna happen and we're gonna make a lot of money."

Roach has been in the rumor mill about his potential involvement with a McGregor-Mayweather boxing match but had seemingly not given the idea much credence, possibly because he is of the same belief that many boxers and MMA fighters have: Conor McGregor stands no chance in a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather.

"As I told Mayweather, I said, ‘it would take me three years at least to get him ready to fight you.' I don't really think it's possible for an MMA fighter to fight a boxer and I don't even really think it's fair. Depends on what rules you fight under, one person has too big of an advantage. Mayweather would outbox him all day long. Conor McGregor seems like a tough guy and all that but being a tough guy doesn't really help you in boxing...

But I do know that he's trained at Wild Card West which is one of my gyms on the west side and he's sparring with a couple of my professional fighters over there and I hear he's not doing that well with my professionals.

LINK: Morning Report: Freddie Roach says Conor McGregor has not done well in training against professional boxers, would love to help him

Sure doesn't seem like he is preparing for Diaz. I loved watching Nate choke him out, and I'd watch them fight again. Or Frankie. But these shenanigans with FMJ are just silly. In straight boxing, he'll look like a fool against FMJ. I'm sure the payday will be amazing, but lets be honest, that's all this is. Conor has a bright future in MMA if he gets back to his division. I'm not his biggest fan, but what a waste if he never defends his belt (I think there is a good chance he is stripped if he doesn't defend this year).

6 rounds of boxing, 6 rounds of kickboxing. Floyd got to finish him in the first 6 or its night night or a broke leg.

I can't be the only one that does not understand how a 19-3 featherweight became so important to the mma media. He has 1 great win and a couple of good wins. Aldo was a much better record and actually defended the belt and after 1 loss he is no longer important meanwhile Conor losses and seems to have become more popular. I understand Conor sells ppv but I don't get it. There are many other fighters I would rather see.

Zuffa promotion...if some random news reporter wants to cover the UFC, they most likely go right to the UFC themselves or one of the many zuffa influenced media sites...unsurprisingly, just like Ronda was a year ago the talk is all conor. IMO I don't think this fight happens, no matter what they say, I can't see it happening..but what better way to keep Conor in the spotlight after a loss, without actually having to talk about it? Between this and his almost retirement, is a great improvement in the Ronda model imo, since crying on camera repeatedly didn't do wonders for her.

Most casual fans think Conor is one of the greatest MMA fighters ever for some reason...I believe Floyd almost said as much too, which is why I think Floyd was always good with the UFC, and the "hate" he got from all recent stars was probably manufactured.

This fight is a joke. People who pay for this are either just out for a freak show or are just plain uneducated about fighting and will pay for anything.

I don't like floyd and don't watch how fights, he's great but boring.

I don't like Conor but appreciate that he makes me not like him. I would pay to see him fight a real mma fight not against floyd and not a boxing match either......pointless

of course it's pointless.. they're in different sports.

i mean its pointless in terms of winning any belts in boxing or mma and the serious stuff like that, but the single greatest point of it is its entertainment value to millions of fans of both sports which will lead to huge $$$$.

i mean shit, i'd wanna see it. i know floyd outboxes mcgregor easily, but you can't tell me you'll never watch a single clip of the fight if it ever happened. maybe you wont pay for it, but you'd watch eventually

Yes, I would watch it but only for highlights and would not pay, so they get no revenue from me..........just as I'll watch highlights from floyds fights but would never pay and only because you just want to know......but there is a shit load more risk in 90% of floyds weight class beating floyd than Conor beating him.........and there is no risk if that makes sense

Conor throws one high kick and KOs Floyd for the DQ and the universe would implode.
