"I'm a one step at a time kind of guy," Holloway said of his UFC championship aspirations.

At just 24-years-old, Max Holloway is in no rush for a UFC title shot. "I'm a one step at a time kind of guy," Holloway told ESPN.com in a recent interview.

The budding featherweight prospect has been on a tear since his loss to Conor McGregor in 2013, stringing together eight consecutive wins and catapulting to No. 4 in the official 145-pound rankings. 'Blessed' will look to increase his win streak to nine when he takes on Ricardo Lamas at this Saturday's UFC 199 pay-per-view in Inglewood, Calif.

And, while Holloway didn't want to talk about a potential title shot, the proud Hawaiian said he'd love to avenge his loss to 'The Notorious' in the near-future.

"I don't care if it is for a title.…

that loss to McDouble was a fluke.

Max is championship material and he would win the rematch imo.
It wasn't a fluke..he got out grappled by an injured McGregor...I agree, he's championship material IF he has evolved in his TD def and bjj

UFC will give CMG a dozen fights before they let Nate rape him again.

yeah, I thought that was incredibly impressive pulling off the win like that with a torn acl halfway through

This is an interesting post, considering the UFC has been trying to get the Nate fight done since the week after the last one happened. Where did this sentiment come from?

If holloway beats llamas he should either get the loser of edgar v aldo or mendes, if he wins then he deserves a title shot

Strongly disagree.

Conor was granted the title shot after beating Siver, Poirer and a young Holloway. Yes he also beat Mendes before actually fighting for it, but that was only because Mendes replaced Aldo on 2 weeks notice.

If Holloway beats Lamas, then he would have beat Lamas, Jeremy Stephens, Charles Oliveira (1st rounds finish) and Cub Swanson (finish) in his last four. That, combined with the fact he's won ANOTHER five straight fights before this (so 9 in total if he beats Lamas) is more than enough for a title shot.

yeah but Conor is an exception because of hype, Holloway hasnt beaten an top 4 type guy yet and its pretty clear who those people are.

Lamas is one of them. Stephens just beat a former defending BW champ and someone who not too long ago was in the running by some to be one of the top p4p goats. Swanson was around the top 6-7 when Holloway beat him and Holloway beat him quicker than Edgar.

I can't think of anyone who's won 9 fights in a row with at least 3 top-10 wins in the UFC and NOT get a title shot. Fuck me mate, Donald Cerrone got one at LW after an 8-fight streak that ended at John friggin Makdessi. Holloway deserves one after a 9-fight streak that ends at Lamas.

End of.
