UFC commentator Joe Rogan shares a completely new side of the story surrounding the thought-to-be lifetime ban of recently reprieved journalist Ariel Helwani.

During a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, UFC color commentator Joe Rogan shared an interesting detail to last weekend's expulsion and lifetime ban of MMAFighting.com reporter Ariel Helwani.

Helwani and his team were escorted out of the arena and had their credentials revoked right before the UFC 199's main-event fight on Saturday for breaking the news on Brock Lesnar's comeback at UFC 200. This caused massive outrage throughout the media and fan communities, until Helwani was reinstated on Monday.

During a special episode of his own video-podcast The MMA Hour, the merited MMA journalist claimed that he…

When Joe starts off with "from what I hear..." it's hearsay, locker room gossip or whatever one wants to call it. Anyone who listened to Ariel's show yesterday knows that the "MOLE" subject came up. This entire scenario is kind of messed up. AH Has been in this buisness for a number of years and probably does have a LOT of close contacts, from Agents, Fighters, Managers, Coaches and the list goes on. Most of which are going to have some inside info regarding one thing or another. It is more than likely a good reporter can put the pieces together and find out what's going on.

Joe did give a interesting perspective on the situation as far as the neccesity of breaking the news only a couple of hours before the UFC wanted to announce it. I can see the Pros and Cons of both sides. Guess the question is ... If you have the information of a big surprise that will be announced to the public in a couple of hours and you rightly can publish it , does it make it right? I'd really like to hear peoples opinions on this and why.

"Now, I get the UFC's perspective. They would wanna know who the f'ck is leaking this secret information, and that they don't want this guy taking this information and putting it live. Now from what I understand, the conversation with him was, 'Don't do this, because if you do this, there's only a hand full of people who know this information. So we're gonna fire everybody. We're gonna fire a bunch of people and you're gonna ruin people's lives'. This is what I was told, was a conversation they had with him. After the conversation he leaked the Brock Lesnar stuff.

"I don't know if that's true, I would have to talk to Ariel. You'd have to get his opinion, you'd have to get the UFC's opinion, you'd have to get the two of them together to debate whether or not, which story was true. But this is a side that you're not hearing. All you're hearing is that the UFC banned him for life and everybody was upset

No one, including Dana, has said that.
Sounds like propaganda.

Joe should have Ariel on the podcast.

I'm sure Joe was told that by someone within the ufc, knowing full well the subject would be discussed at some point on jre. Joe is a loyal guy and I'm sure he believed whomever told him that version. It was clearly after the fact, since Joe is on record of saying it was a 100% surprise when Brock showed up on the 200 promo during the ppv.

Joe mentioned that the story comes from someone he trusts implicitly. He seems to be the kind of guy with a decent bullshit detector. This will most likely continue as a he said she said.

I will always believe Joe over that self gratifying weasel Ariel.
Is it really about believing Joe though? I'm certain Joe wouldn't lie about something like that, but who knows who told him. He stated that he and Dana were really good friends several times on that podcast...and if the info is coming from EGG...well, we know how truthful that guy is.

Valid point. When I heard him say he heard it from a credible source, my mind went to Dana. Of the 3 I would peg Dana as the one that most often misrepresents the truth.

I think people are misunderstanding what Joe was saying.

He never said that Ariel was warned not to break the Lesnar news, he was saying that he had been warned before about reporting leaked information because if they found out they had a mole/moles in the company, they would be fired. Joe wasn't saying that he was warned not to break the Lesnar news specifically.

That fuckwit is the last cunt I'd take the word of.

BTW I want to kill John Oliver. And I can do it. Whenever I want to.
Right but I'd like to know if he commented. LOL he denied Lesnar being part of UFC200 just minutes before it was announced.
