According to a published report, Kimbo Slice's Bellator 149 prefight medicals showed no signs of a heart condition.

Bellator officials told TMZ.com that Slice, who died of heart failure Monday at age 42, passed all his tests leading up to his infamous Feb. 19 fight against Dada 5000 in Houston, including physical exams, EKG, and EEG testing.

"If there was any sign that Kimbo was not healthy enough to fight, we would not have allowed him to fight," an unnamed Bellator official told TMZ. "All of [Slice's] physicals were passed" ... the [medical documents] are in the possession of the Texas Dept. of Licensing and Regulation."

isn't there that whole thing about bellator faking medical documents? this would fall in line with that, we may have a conspiracy on our hands

This is something that really has my attention, it could be that bellator really forged medicals. It isn't for certain tho.

The illness that kimbo suffered from could be a chronic illness or acute.

Will be interesting how things play out.

The two diagnoses mentioned above- atrial enlargement by ECG and mitral valve prolapse by physical exam alone are two of the most common diagnoses that I see made by primary MD's that prove to be incorrect. Mitral valve prolapse was a popular diagnosis to be made clinically a while back to explain away chest pain, palpitations and sometimes fatigue. It can only be proven by an imaging study (usually echocardiography) to see if the valve leaflets actually prolapse or not.
If an ECG demonstrates wider than normal p-waves, or notched p-waves; that MAY be a sign of left atrial enlargement. An echocardiogram is indicated in this case to see if the atrium is really enlarged or not.
I would be very interested in seeing Kimbo's ECG in question.

Yeah the whole fight was fucked.. the only positive I can gather from that is that if they were sloppy or really something fishy went on, it will not happen again anytime soon. The eyes are on them now.

James Thompson probably needs some checks doing, don't think he even trains for fights anymore.
