Tim Means will be able to fight again before the close of summer.

The popular UFC welterweight settled with USADA this week and was given a six-month suspension by the UFC's anti-doping policy partner, it was announced Thursday. The suspension is retroactive to Feb. 3, so Means should be able to get back in the Octagon by August.

Means was flagged by USADA in February after testing positive for ostarine in a Jan. 21 out-of-competition test. Ostarine is a banned substance in the selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMS) category. SARMS are similar to anabolic steroids, but don't carry as many negative side effects. Means was pulled from his main event fight with Donald Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 83 due to the positive test.

All along, though, Means said he never took ostarine intentionally and the substance came from a tainted supplement. USADA came to that conclusion as well, which is why Means got a reduced suspension.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes for other fighters to realize these supplements can't be trusted. It really sucks and affects their reputation when they think they're playing by the rules.

Believe it or not tainted supps is a very real thing. Lots of these supps are not regulated and will throw in real peds, and these just take shit. They have no idea what their taking.

I'm beginning to see how this is possible.......companies apparently run supps on the same line as coke, etc

well every time I've brought this up, I've been told USADA go to the supplement company and test their supplements to prove that the fighter's claim is true, and for both Romero and now Means, this was the case.

but I've not seen any actual source that proves they did that.

I joked about it a few times, fighter's tainting their own supplements once they got caught.

But they would have to taint the rest of the company's product which should be impossible

yeah I meant if they weren't actually tracing the supplement back to it's source i.e the manufacturer

it was my joke that led to those replies telling me they would do that

but not seen any proof they did do that, just a lot of presuming they did.
