Jacare on UFC title shot: ‘This Dan Henderson campaign is ridiculous'

Ronaldo Jacare says he deserves to fight for the UFC middleweight title more than Chris Weidman or Dan Henderson.

With the surprising KO win Michael Bisping scored against Luke Rockhold, middleweight contender Ronaldo Jacare has no doubt he should get the next title shot. As Jacare spoke with Portal do Vale Tudo, he believes he is a big draw for the UFC and deserves to fight for the title.

“Fighters are now saying that the public doesn’t know who I am, that I don’t sell. I am Ronaldo Jacare. Several times Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion. I fought with a broken arm. Submission champion. MMA champion. Future UFC middleweight champion. Fans want to see someone who deserves to fight for the title. And that someone is me.”

I completely agree with him. I love Hendo, but giving him a title shot right now would be a travesty. Everyone remembers the elbow from hell and forgets that for most of that fight he looked every bit of 45.

Agree 100%, but it's about the story lines and $$$. I wouldn't be surprised at all if UFC went the Hendo route just because Hendo is more mainstream and will sell more ppvs.

Just let Bisping defend against Jacare. If he loses (which is likely imo), it would be an okay fight to set up. In my opinion, the 185 division in the near future should lay out like this:
Bisping vs Jacare
Weidman vs Romero
Silva vs Rockhold
Vitor vs Tim Kennedy
Henderson either sits out and waits for Bisping or retires. I personally have seen enough. He needs to ride that spectacular KO on home.

Or the NHL giving Sydney Crosby the Conn Smyth despite having better players on his team in the NHL playoff. I think every sport makes decisions based on $$$ from time to time, I don't think they fix games outright though

You're right, that would be pretty ridiculous for the NBA to do. That would defeat the purpose of rigging the games in the first place.

That's the line it tries to walk and the causals eat up and as long as the casual money is there, Dana would book anything at this point over the name that draw no ppv's. The same people that buy into Conor vs Floyd.

The only time he books lesser names is when there are no stars in wait like at WW, Nate doesn't want it (and they tried), Conor got beat and all that is left are quiet respectful types so that division marches on somewhat business as usual.

It's gotten me to care less but people I know who don't know an armbar from a gaybar to watch.

That one is twofold, even though Sidney is somewhat of a star in a league devoid of star power I think part of that decision was to not totally embarrass USA Hockey for leaving Kessel off the team because Torteretard hates him. Kessel had the better points, better +/- and was clutch in games Sidney was a minus in and in a year where Canada doesn't give a fuck mostly, it's weird to try and boost a star with zero personality, but Gary has no other way as scoring is way down and what was a star season at 60 + goals for decades is now struggling to 50 goals. How do you market the standards of excellence when your best players can't reach it?

The league may think it is in good shape but if they don't figure out how to market star power all they will do is tread water.
