The only person in the world that doesn't acknowledge it is a used car salesman, posing as President of a big MMA org.

Fantastic interview.
After the first Shogun fight, he caught a lot of slack for the "Dare were tree judges" statement.
But I've always thought highly of Lyoto, and believe he coulda ended Silva's reign as well.
His fight vs. Mousasi was, I believe, his greatest, sharpest, and most aggressive fight ever. Many don't catch the nuances and technical/tactical thought in that fight.
I loved his facial expression after understanding the "step above Bisping' reference, lol.
It's also great to see UFC fighters able to acknowledge the GOAT without repercussion.
Fans, fighters, the world has spoken.

Bisping and Dana probably ladle on a hammock discussing how he can one day get a title eliminator if he he behaves and wears his eye patch..,The best Bisping looked was against the guy on Extreme Weightloss..and he won a split dec in my eyes..not his one good one..

Wow, I guess I jinxed it the other day Sparkuri. I said I hardly ever disagree with you, but then you go and post this statement which I couldn't disagree with more.

Here is the explanation of my opinion and disagreement.

in a 5 round fight he landed a total of 35 strikes agasinst Mousasi. Not 35 significant strikes, 35 TOTAL strikes.

Robbie Lawler in his 5 round fight-162 total strikes landed

Johny Hendricks in his 5 round fight-186 total strikes landed

Lyoto Machida in his 5 round fight-35 total strikes landed

Ben Askren falls into the same category. Won't kiss Dana's ass and fight for $12k/$12k, so BLAF resorts to calling him inexperienced, scared, unmanageable, etc. Dana needs to come up with some new tactics, because anyone that's been paying attention the last 5 years can see right thru his shit nowadays.

35 strikes landed in 25 minutes=aggressive to you sparkuri @sparkuri ?

Haha

No, I meant aggressive against a guy as dangerous as Mousasi.

it would be interesting to find out strikes landed against Mousasi from all opponents.

I think it's a safe bet that even in a 15minute fight Gegard's opponents average more than 35 strikes per 15 minutes.

My post hyperlinkes directly to fightmetric where you can click on Gegard's name and do some quick research. I'll do it over the weekend if you'd like me to, I wouldn't mind finding that out.

Why all the Bisping hate?
no offense bud what's to like about him? His exciting fights? He never has any..he hasn't beat anybody in top 10...but continues to act as if he's one of the best...His best win is over an old Cung...He always makes excuses...Then said only reason he lost is because everybody juices...He spits on corner men...Throws illegal shots when in danger vs Jorge..i guess rockholds one Arm was on trt...He always talks more shit than he ever backs up...and lastly when hendo crushed his head, that was the most rewarding outcome other than my own fights I've experienced in fighting...My fav fighter does booger sugar and isn't perfect but atleast he's talented and puts on good fights unlike Jizsping..hope you don't hate me llol..Im curious what makes you root for him? jw brudda..

Used to hate Bisping. Love him now. Used to think he was arrogant as shit (and maybe he is)...but I see him more now as a straight shooter that's intelligent & witty.

I get his humour, I grew up with plenty of guys who are similar to him. He's the UK's original pioneer, while the States have Coleman, Don Frye, Tank Abbott, Randy Couture, the list goes on, but we only have one guy, and that is Bisping. He isn't the most athletic guy, the most skilled guy, but he is a hard worker and an overachiever. He's gone a long way without knockout power, and when you are primarily a striker that is a big hurdle to overcome. Plus he is funny and has p4p best hair in MMA.

Not sure about the best hair, but everything else you wrote is really awesome. I wish I could have that quote bookmarked because you really illustrated the significance of him well.

Agree with what you said but I'd also like to add that he has taken some losses like a man, he always comes to fight which is a big plus, and even if he's talked shit and lost like he did to Rockhold, he had the perfect attitude which was "I lost he was the better man tonight, I'm gonna go straight back to the gym, get better, and climb that latter again"-pretty hard to hate a guy with that attitude.

Lost to Mousasi-Ilir Latifi landed 18 out of 112 strikes against Mousasi=18% accuracy
Lost to Mousasi-Mike Kyle landed 7 out of 29 strikes in 4 minutes against Mousasi before getting choked out=33% accuracy
Lost to Mousasi-OSP landed 13 of 42 strikes against Mousasi=42% accuracy
Lost to Mousasi-Mark Munoz landed 3 of 9 against Mousasi in 2 minutes before getting choked out.=33% accuracy

Beat Mousasi-Lyoto Machida landed 35 out of 108=32% accuracy
Beat Mousasi-Jacare Souza landed 32 of 56 against Mousasi before choking him out in the 3rd round.=69% accuracy

The #'s support my argument.

I'm glad this discussion picked up and I'm going to have to add these new reasearched #'s in my other thread and undoubtidly get vote down more for taking my time to research and post these figures and share them.

Here's the thing-
Lyoto Machida's strikes per round=lower than Mousasi's opponents before and after Mousasi fighting Lyoto
Lyoto Machida undoubtidly is better than Latifi, Kyle, OSP, and Munoz, yet his output and accuracy does not reflect that

The two guys who have wins over Mousasi are Jacare and Machida. Jacare threw more strikes per round, had a better accuracy ratio, as well as finished the fight. Machida threw 108 punches

Strikes thrown per round against Mousasi:
Machida=4.3 strikes a round
Ilir Latifi=7.6 strikes a round
Mike Kyle=8.2 strikes a round
OSP=3.5 strikes a round
Mark Munoz-11.8
Jacare=6.1 strikes a round

It is absolutely crazy to me that Lyoto was declared "winner" in that fight, as well as it's crazy to me that people enjoyed his performance. I thought it was completely lackluster, and the strongest argument I have to support that are the numbers in this post which I think make a damn good case for my opinion.

Gegard/OSP had a LOT more ground fighting compared to Gegard/Lyoto which explains why OSP is the only one with less strikes against Gegard.
(OSP/Mousasi)
OSP was 2/5 on take downs with 4 passes
Mousasi took OSP down 4/7 take downs with 6 passes

(Lyoto/Mousasi)
Mousasi was 0 for 3 on take downs, 0 passes.
Lyoto was 1/2 on take downs with 2 passes

Thx.
I enjoy Lyoto's fighting style and look forward to his fights.
Against bigger guys who can wrestle he's usually screwed
