Lol.. It's funny you mention this, I actually found out why they did that recently.

The WCW games were literally copies of a game from Japan called Virtual Pro Wrestling for the 64. They kept all the Japanese stars/wrestlers, along with other guys (one of the games had a Muhammad Ali character for example renamed to the Buriser or something). But due to legal shit from New Japan Pro Wrestling and other groups, they were not allowed to use their name/likeness.. So they changed the names and costumes but kept the characters in.

I actually downloaded and played the original Japanese one. It's awesome. It's got a whole bunch of MMA fighters in it.. Rickson Gracie, Bas Rutten and more.

I have noticed this trend on how a thread can take a left turn here. I think its awesome, some cool stuff gets posted usually. I was thinking the same thing earlier.
