Like I said, the word in question represents a very specific thing, the others are just words. I realize that in Greece homosexuality became legal long ago, and the word likely doesn't carry the same history, but in many of the states you can still be fired from your job for being gay. the discrimination the LGBT community still faces is very real, and the words "Fag" or "Faggot" represent that discrimination.

This is true. It just happened to a friend in Kansas. He came out to his co-workers after the Orlando massacre and they suddenly decided to "sunset" his position with the company. It's sad but I'm hoping it gives him enough motivation to leave that backwards bullshit behind and move somewhere where he can live like a human rather than someone to be looked down upon.
They downsized his job because of that? How that's legal is beyond me.

He lives in an area where people like to blow clouds of black smoke out of their trucks and call people fags. I'm sure they didn't document that as the reason but after that happened he was depressed (had lots of friends here in O-town) and finally told them. Everything was going great until that day then suddenly people stopped talking to him, ignoring his emails etc. Three days later they suddenly said they didn't need him anymore (mid project).
People get real afraid of what's different sometimes. Hopefully he got/gets employment where his bosses aren't bigots.
