for you guys that are up to date with the corporate world and billion dollar purchases...

what is the logic on selling/announcing the sell right after 200? what about buying right after 200?

did Zuffa guys just wanted to have an epic sendoff? did ufc 200 play a part on the negotiating process??

the decision of making Tate vs. Nunes the main event?? does it add value to the ufc brand having the title fight be above evrything else? would having a (maybe) one off outside star main eventing diminish the value of the brand??

wouldn't Zuffa cash out more if Brock was main event??

It will be interesting to see what is going to happen at ufc 201.will Ari be interviewed at center ring about the purchase like when shark tooth Dana proclaimed the superbowl of mixed martial arts
its still not the superbowl of mma, its the semi finals of completive water dancing level.

We can only guess as to why they make the decisions that they do but for whatever reason, it works. Maybe they didn't want it to affect the PPV buys? Or they didn't want the scrutiny during such a momentous week? If you've noticed, no one really talked about it until after it was signed and sealed and that's exactly the way they wanted it.

I wonder if the fighter class action lawsuit had something to do with this.

Knowing their profits would take a huge hit if they lose the case.

They should not keep Dana past the initial transition phase. He has helped the sport alot but he is also holding it back now. How can a major sport have the president of the biggest league lying on national television and attacking the athletes he employees. No other sport has this kind of president. They mentioned today on ESPN that he stole his act from Vince Mcmahon.

I don't understand the hate he gets on here. Yeah, he's a jerk and says things publicly but so do some NFL owners, they are just more pc about how they word it. I'm for sure not his number one fan but he sure gets hated a lot for something he's not alone in doing. Just my .02.

I see where you're coming from but the difference that I see is that Dana is the President and main PR for the UFC. I cannot think of another company worth 4 billion that has a president or PR person that behaves like him. He has clear favorite fighters and promotes them above all others. How do you think the players and owners of other sports would take the Commissioner only allowing his favorite to play in the championship.

I can understand that i suppose.

I think his behavior doesn't bother me much as everyone else because I'm so sick and tired of everyone being all pc and full of crap, that i kind of enjoy it when someone just says it like it is. I would much rather see someone like Jerry Jones say there's no way we're signing <insert name here> cause they can't keep their head out of their backside or he's not a good enough player to play for my team, etc.

My thought is that i have trouble believing that he's the only one making those favoritism decisions. If the brothers disagreed, they would've done something about it, they've had 15 years to do so.

I do wish they would find some sort of rankings that are legit and base title fights off of them as opposed to however they pick them now. Often doesn't seem like the most deserved gets the best fights.

Do you think Dana really has personal favorites and that level of influence or that these are marketing and sales decisions made by committee?

I do think a lot of it is marketing but it also seems that he does favor some fighters. There is no reason for him to constantly talk about Rousey during most interviews. He has hundreds of active fighters on the roster bur spends an unproportionate amount of talking about Ronda who most probably will never fight again.

Ronda does/did huge numbers with a completely new/untapped demographic. She's a money maker for the UFC and Dana, it isn't surprising that they want her to succeed. It's also pretty well known that she doesn't negotiate aggressively, but just takes what they offer. Zuffa's perfect fighter.

I agree with that but I don't think he needed to talk down about and make fun of Cris Cyborg as a marketing strategy for Ronda. Maybe that was the best way to take the heat off of Ronda about not fighting Cyborg but that really soured alot of people on Dana and Ronda.
