Rocky loves Emily Rocky lives Emily Rocky loves Emily3 Ninjas is also one that sticks out in my head
Yes he is fkn funny in ong bak...The protector is best fight scenes and pure athleticism I've seen in a movie...Fucking love ong bak,abd the first ProtectorThe Protector was called Tom Yum Gung in Thailand.
The comedy side kick in that and Ong Bak is a huge TV star here.
one of my most fave fight scenes... a few years ago, i counted how many dudes Jaa broke joints of... due to old man memory, i don't recall if it's 53 or 63. but definitely 50+ ... i'm such a MA movies geek
5 Shaolin Masters aka 5 Shaolin Killers was my first Shaw Brothers oldschool movie I recall seeing! I was 10 or 11 at the time. Great movie! Watched it at the now long-gone Music Palace theater in NYC Chinatown. One of my all time favorites, i remember watching this with my dad when i was about 10 years old, we had the greatest time ever when we watched shaolin/kung fu movies, i miss my dad.
Trailer:
I would do that hand sign in the movie, like it was a gang sign with my friends.
Great post!I am reposting what I posted to the 1970's movies thread:
The Way of the Dragon (1972)
This may be sacrilege, i think this is better than Enter the Dragon! Bruce starred, wrote the screenplay, martial arts choreographer, co-produced and directed! This, to me, is a good representation of his philosophy, of what he tried to teach, his JKD (Jeet Kune Do).
Heroes of the East (1978) aka Shaolin vs Ninja aka Shaolin Challenges Ninja
My most favorite Martial Arts movie - yes IMO even better than 36th Chamber of Shaolin aka Master Killer and Five Deadly Venoms. It's directed by the great Lau Kau Leung, no one dies in this, it was a big misunderstanding, showcased many many styles using the plot device of Chinese MA vs Japanese MA
Invincible Shaolin (1978) aka Unbeatable Dragon - my most fave "5 venoms" movie
Great training sequences featuring real CMA like WCK and Southern Praying Mantis - Lo Meng aka Lo Mang was a student of Chu Gar SPM - Lo Meng is better known as 'Toad'
I could go on and on.
No man I actually forgot I'm home in a week so I'll put it on my to do list. Thanks for the reminder@BirdWatcher did you watch the raid movies yet?
Liking this new guy....Song2 mentioned a Jet Li classic Hero and Stillmatic mentioned another - Fist of Legend.
Jet became a superstar after director Tsui Hark casted him as Wong Fei-hung in Once Upon a Time in China series.
Made 3 movies and they had a falling out is what i heard, Jet thought he didn't need Tsui and Tsui had the attitude something like, "I made you. I could make anyone else a star." Vincent Zhao took over the franchise for 4 and 5 and they kind of fizzled.
Perhaps the comics geek in me liked this more than i should've, another Jet Li movie - Black Mask:
i really could go on and on and on ... lol at me
