Having Lorenzo flip his vote at the 11th hour, to keep MMA out of Vegas, when SEG owned it, didn't hurt it. They always tend to leave that detail out of their story for some reason though. Weird.

I remember Tyson vs Lewis was pushed back also. It did happen though, but there was a bunch of bullshit similar to ths fight - two sides unable to agree. It's rare you get an interpromotional match up.

Let's hope this just happens and there is no BS. But, my fears are growing each day

I wouldn't doubt the 100k figure, even though I only heard that from one of the Mayweather trainers (somebody in his camp...might have been that video that had Katie Currie in it, a PBF promo vid). People do like to be seen at big fights...half of 'em at ringside probably don't even follow boxing.

I heard $80,000 the other night.

For this fight or any fight?
This fight. People paying $80k need their heads examined. I get it, $80k to celebs is like $100 to you and me...but still. That's ridiculous.

One hundred percent YES it will happen. Without question, nobody is going to fuck this up, and with the amount of money on the table, and the energy that has gone into making the fighters and their teams come to terms, as well as the networks, you're damn straight it is going to happen. Nobody is walking away from this windfall, and no injury is going to fuck this thing up at the last minute the way we are accustomed to in MMA. I've already put my beer on ice and lined up my extra curricular activities for the evening of May 2nd, without a doubt in the world that this fight will finally be decided before the 3rd................and the winner is...........................

.......ME!!! Because I'm gonna have a lot of fucking fun on that night, even if Floyd does win, God forbid, praise Allah!

Back at the old headquarters Lupo's theory is that this is just a publicity stunt, like a primer for the real thing, which will go down in October. I have to say it's plausible---they threw this fight together SO fast, like in record time. So while I agree there's no way it won't happen because there's so much dough involved, it may not happen in May. It's possible both sides knew all this and just trolled for more publicity. You never know with these fucking promoters, anything goes.

80-100k and all that does seem ridiculous, but it's an historic fight, so, that adds to it. I just hope it doesn't end up another goddamn De La Hoya-Trinidad, a hugely anticipated fight at the time, and in fact a better matchup on paper since both were in their primes, but a total sleeping pill when it went down.

But yeah, again, lots of fools are paying to be seen at an historic event and not so much to see the (hopefully) magnificent boxing. Although it would be cool to have a ticket stub with the words Mayweather-Pacquiao on it and to tell your grandchildren you were there.

I should have said "November" above, since that was the actual date Lupo mentioned. Not that it matters, since Oct. and Nov. are about equally an eternity away.

I feel like a huge mark now. No fucking way this was going to happen this fast.

Fuckin' Marky Mark over here.
