“What people don’t understand is, it’s not like I could just remove Chad from the card and say, ‘Sorry, I can get you a fight four months from now,'” Shelby said. “We understand. You spent money on a camp. You’ve got bills to pay. We will do our best to find you a fight. I bend over backward to keep guys in fights, to keep the machine moving. You have to.”

Get Sarah "Cheesecake" Moras @Sarah "Cheesecake" Moras a fucking fight then.
Agreed but that's kinda a diff situation. He's saying Mendes was already in camp for 3 months and then his opponent pulled out, meaning if they pulled Chad, he would have wasted everything. Whereas they are just makng Sarah sit on the sdelines fr lke 6+ months.. It'd be even worse f they had her in a full camp, her opponent gets hurt and they just let her wait even longer. That seems to be what he meant with the Mendes thing

It's just dumb to me. The UFC needed to keep a league like WEC or SF for some of these newer, lower level and lighter weight guys. There are too many fighters and not enogh shows, period. So dumb

It seems like there are a lot of women from the TUF season that have been sitting and waiting forever. Jesus. Terrible foresight on th UFCs part

BTW, just so everyone knows, Joe Silva is only the match maker for 155 and up. Shelby handles all 145 and below including all women

I've always felt like Silva is 100x better at match making than Shelby, especially in the last 2 years. They both make some goofball calls, but I feel like a lot of women and a lot of lower weight guys get stuck waiting foreverrrr

I get what you're saying Galanis, but in order for these fighters to be "professional", they need to be in camp all year around. Supplements, whole foods, gym fees, and then all of the other bills that just come along with everyday life. I think the UFC should get everyone on their roster, 3 fights a year. Mandatory. And if they can't, the contract is breached and said fighter can go fight for a different org. After all, they are "independent contractors", right?

Can't say as I blame him while he's all dressed for a post fight night on the town.............assuming he doesn't have to good sense to go back to his room and get the fuck out of that fugly suit. Funny gif though! Oh, and the chick with the pretty smile, I like her.

He needs to wear a hug-suit to the octagon then. Literally a sweat-suit, I guess it would be. It just looks weird to not bro hug a bro who went to war. You're the one who set this up. He just went to war---embrace that man. You can worry about the implications later.

They did shake hands and all, but fighters in the future should try to hug Joe first---if he refuses, then stick out your hand like you're gonna shake it, then withdraw it. Leave him hovering. Then offer to hug him again. Repeat as necessary until you get the hug.

I think Joe Silva needs to come into the octagon shirtless and shorts. He should wear a robe like the ring girls when sitting down. Once a gladiator has won, the robe comes off and he can go full bro hug mode.

But.. he needs to make a decision. If he goes into the octagon he needs to hug, if he refuses to hug he needs to stay out of the cage. You cant leave a bro hug just hanging like that.

Exactly. That is exactly right my friend. He has to make a decision, hug it out or stay out.

An awful hypothetical I'm gonna lay on everybody, but think about this. Suppose Joe Silva refused to hug a guy who then died later on that night from brain trauma. He'd live his whole life knowing that he valued his suit more than a guy's life. He didn't know it was the guy's dying wish to hug him, but he knows it now. Now we've got a matchmaker who can't do his job because he has to drink himself to sleep every night. And then a whole butterfly effect after this, probably culminating in the death of MMA.

what Joe Silva met up with the fighters in the post fight shower for the hug. I wonder if that would be out of line...

im also wondering if Burt Watson was let go because of his non hugging.

Burt was neither a hugger, or a high fiver nor a fist bumper, as such is surprising he lasted as long in the job as he did, maybe cause he was so old people thought it may get be impolite to correct his unbrolike behavior. But eventually someone just said you know what old guy f#&k you & your non f#$king hugging, if you're not gonna be a bro just f#&k off, that's what we all tink inside I expect.

Here go again on this forum, nipping huge problems in the bud. The UFC doesn't have to collapse now.

Well fucking done.

Are you sure he wasn't a fiver or a fister? Both high and low count. I'm doing some digging. In my backyard, for body parts. And then I'm doing some elementary Watson research, brb.

Okay, I didn't immediately find any videos on YouTube entitled "Compilation of Burt's High Fives and Fistings". Absence of...absent evidence is...evidence...you can't get fooled again.

Thanks to some star level research, there's no need to infer Burt's hugs from fives (in the high style) or fists (in the bro style). Direct evidence of hugs. So Zuffa didn't fire him for not hugging.

I smell a potboiler in the making here. Now we just need a hot dame to drop us a false clue.

On second look, Conor seems to be pushing Burt away. So...they fired Burt FOR hugging Conor?

Anyway. Isn't this how Chinatown starts out?

Is it a rejection or a potential setup for an arm drag from standing position in an effort to go chest to chest?
