There are 9 shooting events for men to compete. Michael phelps has 8 golds at a single Olympics.

With the powerball lottery money, I'd buy teamquestnorth @teamquestnorth a few burritos and get Wild @Wild that '78 transam he's had his eye on for the last decade.

Then I would hire an entourage of professionals to come live on-site at my compound where I'd get real weird and learn to shoot well.

When looking at the shooting Olympians, even the girl that got the first gold, Ginny Thrasher, only picked up a rifle 5 years ago. Others are members of the military shooting teams. But consistently, the people are simply individuals that spend 5-10 years getting ready for the Olympics. And unlike phelps and others, time is on my side. No athleticism required, for which I have none.

Im a nerdy American, I'm made to be a shooter.

Incidentally, even if I failed at Phelps domination ( I wouldn't), I could outdo the entire country of India, in the entire history of the Olympics, in only three olympic sessions with a relatively modest showing.

India at the Olympics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Indian athletes have won a total of 26 medals, all at the Summer Games. For a period of time, India national field hockey team was dominant in Olympic competition, winning eleven medals in twelve Olympics between 1928 and 1980. The run included 8 gold medals total and six successive gold medals from 1928–1956.

Reported. Pretty sure talking about Michael Phelps in any way that isn't praise is prohibited.

I reckon there is a lot more talent involved than you're giving credit for. Of course practise and coaching will make a huge difference but I don't think it's enough to become world class.

I would hazard a guess at the people who started 5 years ago and are in the Olympics started shooting and found they had an innate talent for it, and went from there.

I'm a damn good shooter and thought about competition once. The range time alone to get to that level is insane.

I just watched the 50m prone rifle. There's no way I couldn't medal in that. If I started practicing tomorrow, I could definitely Gold. There's no recoil with a .22cal and you have state of the art equipment. I'm money on those shots all day.

Dont you think being a medical doctor, a white belt in BJJ and running this place already puts you ahead of India against every measure possible ?
