Of course, McGregor was pulled from UFC 200 in April after not fulfilling his media obligations. That was preceded by McGregor's faux-retirement tweet, which just about lit social media on fire. This led to Cormier vs. Jones 2 as the new main event before Jones' USADA test failure nixed that, and we were left with Amanda Nunes' win over Miesha Tate headlining the advertised "biggest UFC…

"In the post-fight press conference, Head of PR Dave Sholler announced an attendance of 18,202 and a live gate of $10.7 million, both of which are company records for Las Vegas, the UFC’s unofficial home. UFC 196 (Conor McGregor vs. Jose Aldo) held the previous records with 16,516 fans and over $10 million in ticket sales."

I think they're probably ok with that bomb

Tbh, this turned into win-win for UFC, two huge selling cards within a couple months of each other.

It was the one of the first events in a larger arena. 194 sold 2k less tickets, and was only 600k less in gate. They had to lower the prices when McGregor dropped off the card.

Exactly why they pulled him IMO. With Brock coming back, splitting them up was a no brainer. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the UFC and Conor came up with the missing media idea together.
