There are people who don't like this movie?
He said under rated, not disliked. Anyone I've ever talked to who's seen it thinks it's awesome. The ratio of people who haven't seen it to people who have is about 100-1.

Gotcha i remember it being a big deal when it came out. All of my friends watched and loved so i guess i didn't consider it underrated.

I've always enjoyed the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. Nothing life changing, but a fun flick with a pretty decent cast:
Donald Sutherland, Rutger Hauer, Luke Perry, Hillary Swank, David Arquette, Stephen Root, and in the greatest onscreen death ever(may be slight exaggeration) Paul Reubens aka PeeWee Herman.

It was fun watching this with my daughter. It's crazy how much society has changed since this was released in '79.

How over rated?

There have been quite a few films mentioned in this thread that are widely acclaimed by both audiences/critics and have been nominated/won multiple Academy Awards. They are not underrated at all.

Speaking of Mulholland Dr. They recently polled 177 movie critics asking them their top 100 movies of the 21st century. Mulholland Drive came in first.

I've never seen a single DVD case that didn't have glowing reviews from audiences and critics. Including Showgirls. On a related note, no one cares about Academy Awards. They've made themselves irrelevant by awarding people for undeserving performances.

I do however respect your personal opinions on movies.

Sure. You can cherry pick a few good reviews for any movie and put it on a dvd cover. That doesn't make it widely acclaimed by critics. Look up all the critic reviews of Showgirls and you will find that they are overwhelmingly negative.

You may think the Academy Awards are irrelevant. Art is of course subjective. But when something like Almost Famous wins best picture and best original screenplay awards at the Academy Awards/Golden Globes/BAFTA, is adored by critics, and has high scores on all user based rating sites (i would agree theres a lot of fuckery with these), I would say it's not fair to call that film underrated.

I wouldn't respect my opinion on anything. I am never sober.

I was kind of hoping for a clever/funny custom gif for a response.

I saw that bit about Mulholland Drive on the news with my wife. We both had a chuckle as we watched it together and just couldn't see what the appeal was. Tbh I assume it's similar to me watching Newton vs Saku with somebody who doesn't watch fights often then trying to convince them it's one the best fights to date, of you don't know the details as to what makes it great it's just a bunch of stuff. LA Confidential was not only over rated imo but was bad. I'm somewhat of a completionist and that's the only thing that kept me from turning it off before the credits ran.

David Lynch films are certainly not for everyone. At least you like his Twin Peaks show. Season 3 coming early next year. Get hype!

I don't think LA Confidential is anything amazing but I do enjoy it. If you're not a fan of the sub-genre of film noir you will likely think it's boring.

Are you not still on the Sage War Wagon?
